A man has been viciously stabbed during a gang fight at a busy Sydney train station.

Emergency services were called to Strathfield train station, in Sydney’s inner-west, just after 4.30pm on Tuesday after the fight broke out on a train soon after leaving Auburn Station.

One man, 18, suffered several stab wounds to his thigh and shoulder and was taken to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a serious condition.

Another man suffered facial injuries during the brawl and was also taken to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for treatment, according to 7News.

Police made 15 arrests at the scene, with many of the arrests believed to be teenage boys.

What sparked the brawl remains under investigation but the incident is said to be gang-related.

Trains on the Western Line are experiencing delays with commuters advised to allow for extra travel time.
