HOT OR NOT: Lee Grant may regret futile Manchester United move

HOT OR NOT: Dusan Tadic scores 30th goal of the season… but Lee Grant may regret futile Manchester United move

  • Dusan Tadic is in HOT form ahead of Ajax’s Champions League clash with Spurs
  • Sergio Aguero’s selfless run helped Leroy Sane to score in the Manchester derby
  • Goalkeeper Lee Grant has played just 23 minutes since moving to Man United

It’s Hot or Not time again as Sportsmail’s Ian Ladyman reveals what’s been making him feel warm and what’s been leaving him cold this week.

HOT

DUSAN TADIC

Tottenham host Ajax in the Champions League on Tuesday and it’s easy to see where the threat will come from.

Tadic, a member of the Southampton side who almost got relegated last year, has scored or assisted 51 of Ajax’s goals this season. His two strikes against Vitesse on Tuesday took his goal tally to 30.

SERGIO AGUERO

The Manchester City forward did not score in the derby but the run he made from left to right before Leroy Sane scored City’s second goal was a moment of brilliantly selfless play.

Aguero knew he was unlikely to get the ball from the breaking Raheem Sterling, but his movement took two defenders away from Sane, giving the German the opportunity to score.

ANDY SULLIVAN

The odds on a pro golfer making a hole-in-one are about 3,000-1, so Sullivan was up against it when the European Tour gave him 500 goes at it as part of their Chase the Ace challenge.

However after two or three excruciatingly close calls at the London Golf Club’s 171-yard 11th hole, Sullivan made it with attempt No 230. You can watch the brilliant video on the European Tour website.

SAMIR NASRI

The West Ham board baulked when Manuel Pellegrini first wanted to bring in a player dreadfully out of shape following a drugs ban. In the end, the gifted Frenchman was handed a heavily incentivised deal.

Just as well. Nasri has not begun a game since stinking the place out against Manchester City two months ago and has started just three times in the Premier League. Nasri, 31, is now out with a calf injury sustained in a half-time warm-up at Chelsea.

LEE GRANT

Having moved to Old Trafford from Stoke last summer, Manchester United’s No 3 goalkeeper has played a total of 23 minutes.

With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer saying that David de Gea is just about undroppable, that pretty much rules out Grant, 36, even getting on the bench. No doubt he’s reasonably paid but one day he may ask himself why he bothered.
