A fortune teller who claims she predicted Brexit using asparagus has revealed her tips for 2019 – including a global recession, World Cup success and the return of TV’s Big Brother.
Jemima Packington, 63, is the world’s only Asparamancer and claims she can peer into the future by tossing the veg in the air and interpreting how the spears land.
She predicts that 2019 will see extreme temperatures become a norm and well-known British businesses will fold.
She also says that despite a global recession, fears over the impact Brexit will have on the British economy will be largely unfounded.
It comes after striking success with such bold 2018 predictions as ‘earthquakes will continue to occur’, ‘politicians will be involved in scandals’, and ‘world economies will go up and down’.

From the positioning of these asparagus spears Jemina says she knows England’s rugby and cricket teams will do well, Brexit will go smoothly… and asparagus sales will rise
Trickier predictions were not borne out so fully – she said Theresa May would be ousted (she wasn’t) and there would be a record number of Royal babies (there weren’t).
Ms Packington said she believes the reality TV show Big Brother will also return to our screens after it aired its final series in November, and that it will be a year of Oscar success for A Star Is Born and British actors.
She has good news for England’s cricket and rugby teams rugby team as she predicts they will have success at coming competitions.
Meanwhile she says the women’s football team will win the World Cup at this year’s finals in France.
Some of her 13 predictions came true for 2018, including predicting the price crash of cryptocurrency Bitcoin and the revival of book sales in the face of modern gadgets.
Ms Packington, from Bath, said: ‘I’m able to interpret the patterns left by the asparagus. When I cast the asparagus, it creates patterns and it is the patterns I interpret.
Last year Jemima predicted Britain would have a new Prime Minister by this time, but Theresa May is still in power
She predicts that the trade war between China and the US – currently so severe Chinese imports of US soy beans, a major US export, dropped to zero this November for the first time – will end but there will be a recession in the US that will affect the world
In one particularly bold prediction for the age of iPhones, bitcoin, and wearable tech, Jemima says that in 2019, ‘exciting new technology will be launched’
In the coming year, Jemima predicts, England’s women’s football team will win the World Cup in France.
Ms Packington said she believes the reality TV show Big Brother will also return to our screens after it aired its final series in November
She has gone out on a limb to predict that extremes of temperature will become the norm, only a decade or two after thousands of climate scientists said man-made climate change will increase the frequency of extreme weather events
‘I am usually about 75-90 per cent accurate with my predictions and 2018 was about 77 per cent correct.
‘I go through my predictions each year and think: ‘Yep, that’s happened, yep, that’s happened.’
‘Occasionally I get one slightly off, where I haven’t quite read it correctly, but I’m never far off.
‘Regarding Brexit, the asparagus said it will not be as bad or as good as people are making out.
‘It will just happen.
‘We are going to get used to the hot summer and very cold winters.
‘It will be equally as hot or hotter this summer.
‘We are going to be surprised by the household name business that will fold this year.
‘If you look at the trend over the past five years it is very damning.
‘The internet will be in the reach of everyone across the world including poor countries.
During Jemima’s appearance on This Morning in early 2016 Twitter users struggled to contain their glee at her claims and the hosts’ reactions
‘We are going to be astounded this year by the breakthrough of technology.
‘I was correct with a lot of my predictions and close with others.
‘I nearly predicted a new Prime Minster – she survived but she’s hanging on by a thread.
‘In December, I like to take time on my own and get my predictions out – I take my time and write them down.
‘I always look forward and never really look back.’
Three years ago when she appeared on This Morning Philip Schofield amused viewers by looking distinctly unimpressed by her claims.
Viewers took to Twitter to share their enjoyment of his reactions – and their skepticism of her claims.
