Forget chocolates and flowers! How about FaceTime with a cuddly creature? Hotel is playing cupid by sending ‘alpaca-grams’ from ‘Panchita’ to loved ones this Valentine’s Day

  • The initiative has been launched at the JW Marriott El Convento Cusco in Peru
  • Panchita, the hotel’s resident alpaca, will deliver the romantic video calls
  • To make your Valentine’s Day, all you have to do is fill out a request form

Forget chocolates, flowers or jewellery this Valentine’s Day – instead give your loved one a video call from a fluffy baby alpaca named Panchita.

The JW Marriott El Convento Cusco hotel in Peru is offering lucky lovebirds the chance to receive a special message from its resident alpaca and hotel mascot.

The hotel is calling it ‘alpaca-gram’ and the romantic declaration will be delivered via FaceTime on February 14.

To apply all you have to do is fill out a request form and recipients will be selected at random.

Are there any restrictions on the personalised messages? It doesn’t look like it. The slushier the better.

The website, lovepanchita.com, reads: ‘Whether you’re sending a sweet greeting to your significant other, bestie, or mom, you’re sure to make hearts melt with a call from Panchita the Alpaca.’

Meanwhile, another hilarious Valentine’s Day initiative has been launched at the Hemsley Conservation Centre in Kent.

There is now a new, special way of getting over your ex – you can name a cockroach after them, and it will only cost £1.50.

The new name for the cockroach will appear on a board at its enclosure at the zoo.
