A man who wasted $10,000 on acne treatments has cracked the code to glowing skin with a sell-out product that helps to transform your complexion in weeks.

After wasting thousands on topical creams to get rid of his adult acne, Reever Botha, 26, turned his attention to fixing the problem from the inside out with a gut cleansing kit that claims to relieve breakouts, inflammation, and bloating.

Together with housemate, Vlad Kosovac, also 26, the businessman created PuraU, a wellness brand that specialises in $139 detox packs made from powerful natural ingredients that support the immune system and improve overall health.

The ARTG-approved kits were an instant hit when they launched at the outset of the pandemic in March 2020, generating $25,000 in sales in the first three weeks followed by a whopping $350,000 in the subsequent months.

Before: The kits, which start from $139,  reduce the symptoms of acne and relieve digestive issues including gas and bloating in a matter of weeks

After: The cleanse contains powerful natural ingredients such as barberry and milk thistle that claim to transform skin from the inside out

But this remarkable success wouldn’t have been possible without the help of some of Australia’s most glamorous Instagram influencers.

‘Social media created such a huge demand, our entire production sold out twice – we simply couldn’t keep up with orders,’ Mr Botha told Daily Mail Australia.

The business was born after a naturopath solved Mr Botha’s chronic acne that had persisted for more than 10 years with a simple gut-boosting tonic.

When his breakouts vanished in the space of four months, he realised he could build a brand on the intrinsic but little-known link between good gut health and glowing skin.

What’s in a PuraU gut cleansing kit?

Barberry: Supports healthy digestion and relieves symptoms of indigestion such as bloating and gas.

Niacinamide: Helps to cleanse and detoxify the body. Relieves skin inflammation and supports a healthy stress response in the body.

Zinc: Supports immune function and mental well-being, as well as reducing inflammation and relieving congestion of the skin.

Milk thistle: Reduces anxiety and supports emotional wellbeing.

‘Education is one of the biggest keys to success…and our young age has been an advantage because we live our brand,’ Mr Botha explained,

‘For example, almost all our female friends were oblivious to the fact that good skin is linked to good gut health.

‘We know one of the greatest compliments you can give a girl is how amazing her skin looks, yet so many of our friends were using ‘Band-Aid products’ sold by huge multinationals that treated the symptoms rather than the cause.’

Co-founder Mr Kosovac agreed, saying they worked tirelessly to avoid selling a ‘smoke and mirrors’ product that offered no effective solution.

Developed in consultation with doctors, PuraU kits has been ARTG listed, a rare feat for an over-the-counter supplement.

The packs, which are available in 20-day, 40-day and 60-day sizes, are said to be the fastest growing gut health remedy in Australia – and now the founders have their sights set on a US expansion.

The duo plan to collaborate with mega-influencers who have 10 to 40 million followers, including the likes of Addison Rae, Shay Mitchell, Hannah Stocking and Kayla Itsines.

‘With the kind of success we’ve been having in Australia and the faith we have in our product’s ability to work – we believe PuraU can really shake up the global gut health industry,’ Mr Botha said.
