How man accused of murdering wife Lyn remarried again after splitting from his schoolgirl lover

Accused wife-murderer Chris Dawson has a third wife of 28 years who has stuck by him, despite the shocking charges he is facing.

Sue Dawson moved around Queensland with her husband as he faced a media storm after two inquiries in 2001 and 2003 identified him as a person of interest in the disappearance of his first wife Lynette.

Lynette disappeared almost 37 years ago and Dawson will face trial for her murder – an alleged crime which the former rugby star is adamant he didn’t commit.

Dawson met his second wife Lynette after he struck up an affair with her when she was just 17 years old.

The Dawson’s hired the then-school girl as a babysitter for their two children.

After the breakdown of his marriage to Lynette in 1990, Dawson met his third wife Sue that same year or shortly after, while they were both working as teachers on Queensland’s Capricorn Coast.

Sue was separated from her husband and the mother of two young children at the time.

She was working as a science teacher at St Brendan’s Catholic Boys School on Queensland’s Capricorn Coast when she met Dawson, who was working as a PE teacher at St Ursula’s Girls College.

The pair moved to Yeppoon together along with Sue’s twin children, Kobi and Jaga, who took Dawson’s last name, News.com.au reported.

The family faced national media attention following two inquests into the death of Lynette in 2001 and 2003, which named Dawson as a person of interest.

The family subsequently moved from Yeppoon to the Sunshine Coast, while also owning a property at Biggera Waters on the Gold Coast, a short drive away from Chris’s twin brother Paul.

Sue has stuck by her husband of 28 years, who had already been married twice before he met her.

She had been hired as a babysitter to the Dawson family’s two young daughters Shanelle and Sherryn when she was in Year 11.

Ms Curtis met Dawson in 1980 when she was a student at Cromer High School on Sydney’s northern beaches.

The 70-year-old was arrested on the Gold Coast on December 6 of this year and extradited to Sydney.

Magistrate Mr Williams on Monday rejected the prosecution’s argument that Chris Dawson could flee Australia using the passport of his identical twin brother Paul.

The accused wife killer was expected to be released from Silverwater jail in Sydney’s inner-west on Tuesday, but his release was suspended due to bail document hold-ups, News Corp reported.

Dawson’s wife Sue, alongside his 72-year-old brother Peter, was instrumental in securing bail, after offering a $1.5million surety that allowed him to return to Queensland.

Chris Dawson agreed on Monday to strict bail conditions, including that he report daily to police at nearby Maroochydore, near his home in Coolum.
