How the stars of Geordie Shore have transformed their image with plastic surgery

After 12 years on the air, it was announced this week that Geordie Shore has been axed and while fans may be consoling themselves by watching old episodes, they’d be forgiven for not recognising the MTV show’s stars.

Earlier this week, it emerged that Abbie Holborn had gone under the knife for her second boob job, jetting to Turkey for the procedure, having previously revealed that she was ‘addicted’ to plastic surgery.

Tragically, it’s something that Abbie has in common with many of her Geordie Shore stars, with several of them going under the knife after appearing on the show.

While there has been a shift in cultural trends of late and a steer towards the more ‘natural’ look, it’s left some of the MTV stars reversing their procedures or with lifelong regrets.

Now we take a look back at the stars of Geordie Shore and how they used plastic surgery to give themselves a makeover.

Flashback: After 12 years on the air, it was announced this week that Geordie Shore has been axed (pictured: Greg Lake,  Gaz Beadle, Jay Gardner, James Tindle, Charlotte Crosby, Vicky Pattison, Holly Hagan and Sophie Kasaei at the series launch in 2011)

Chloe Ferry, 27 – ‘I’m totally crackers me like.’

Chloe burst onto the MTV show in 2015 as a fresh-faced 19-year-old and threw herself into the boozing, bedding and brawling ethos of the show.

She also wasted no time booking her in for plastic surgery, admitting in 2016 that she didn’t like her natural look and thought she was ‘ugly’.

The reality star has spent more than £50,000 on treatments, which includes three boob jobs.

She first began receiving Botox injections at the age of 19 to maintain a wrinkle-free visage and a year later, she underwent an eyebrow lift to elevate her brows and tighten her forehead.

Chloe also had two nose jobs and achieved the iconic Kylie Jenner pout with the help of lip fillers.

She also transformed her gnashers with gleaming white veneers before receiving liposuction and a bum lift in 2018.

In 2021 she insisted that she was ‘done’ with surgery because she ‘wanted to be taken seriously’ yet the following year she went back under the knife for a fox eye facelift that went wrong and left her with permanent scarring.

Vicky Pattison, 35 – ‘I am a Geordie girl with a V.I.P. edge.’

Vicky appeared on the original series of Geordie Shore in 2011, quitting the show three years later and going on to work as a presenter and influencer.

In 2013 she slimmed down from a size 16 to a size 6 and confessed it had left her breasts looking like ‘sacks of fat’.

She went under the knife the following year to boost her bust from 32B to 32D and admitted in 2016 that while she has resisted further surgery it was a ‘difficult and a constant battle.’

She added: ‘I don’t always feel good when I look in the mirror. The longer I’ve been in this industry, the harder it gets.’

Vicky has resisted having Botox or fillers in her face, stating in 2021: ‘I know what my scars and my wrinkle lines are from. They’re from having a good time, from laughing with friends.’

Nathan Henry, 31 – ‘I’m preened to perfection.’

Nathan burst onto the show in 2015 and quickly became a fan favourite with his happy-go-lucky demeanor and positivity.

He resisted going under the knife for three years when he then decided to transform himself by getting filler injected in his jawline, cheeks, lips and tear ducts.

The following year he opted for more jawline fillers to ‘chisel’ his features and proudly showed off the look.

Predicting backlash he told his followers: ‘Before you self entitled keyboard warriors come forward; I chose to do this because I, ME yes me, because it’s my face and my body, didn’t like how round my Malteser head was.’

Abbie Holborn, 25 – ‘I’m tanned, toned and ready to tash on.’

Abbie joined the show in 2017 at the age of 20 and admitted she was already ‘addicted’ to plastic surgery months after just one season on the show.

Prior to appearing on the show she had a boob job but had no plans for further work.

Yet within months of finding fame she underwent eight cosmetic procedures,  including lip, jaw and chin fillers, Botox, veneers and getting her eyebrows tattooed on.

Abbie confessed: ‘The annoying thing is I get so many plastic surgery companies offering me procedures for free and it’s hard to say no. It’s a constant battle not to go overboard.’

Earlier this week she flew to Turkey for a second boob job.

Holly Hagan, 30 – ‘I’m fit, I’m flirty and I’ve got double F’s.’

Holly was so proud of her first ‘FF’ boob job that she referenced it in her opening title quote.

Yet she’s since been very candid about the perils of plastic surgery, admitting that going under the knife made her feel worse about herself.

During her time on the show, Holly had lip fillers, Botox injections, two more breast operations, jaw fillers, nose fillers and a non-surgical bum lift.

Asked how her love of cosmetic surgery affected her mindset, Holly previously said: ‘Surgery made my body image 1000 x worse. I went in with the expectations that I was going to finally be happy and have the perfect body after.

‘Not only have I end up heavier than I’ve ever been after two months, but I was twice as wide too. I looked awful and it was upsetting.

‘I had so much guilt and shame that I spent so much money and looked worse than before.’

Gaz Beadle, 34 – ‘I should have a degree in pulling women.’

Ladies man Gaz never had any trouble catching the ladies’ eyes when he burst onto the scene during Geordie Shore’s inaugural season.

He quit the show in 2017 but remained in the limelight by starring in spin-off show Geordie Shore OGs which premiered in 2019.

The following year he became one of the first celebrity males to admit to having a beard transplant after confessing he struggled with growing stubble.

He told his followers about his results: ‘Honestly I have never had anything like this before and was very scared and nervous but eventually went for a consultation and they were amazing and I decided f**k it I want stubble did some more research and got booked in!!

‘Worked with them to plan it perfectly shape etc and it only took about 6 hours in Manchester with about 2 weeks down time after… now 4 months in I LOVE IT !!!’

Sophie Kasaei, 33 –  ‘I could talk the back legs off a donkey!’

Original cast member Sophie admitted that appearing on the show left her feeling insecure about her appearance and she caved in to surgery after being offered free procedures abroad.

In her 20s she underwent a boob job and Brazilian Bum Lift but revealed she had the second procedure in a run-down hospital in Turkey.

She also developed an addiction to lip fillers, revealing one time the process went wrong and she was left looking like ‘the elephant man.’

Last year she underwent a breast reduction to bring her E-cup assets down to a C-cup as well as a a reverse tummy tuck and corrective work to her Brazilian Bum Lift (BBL) procedure.

She told her followers: ‘The feeling I have now is worth it, all breasts and bodies are beautiful but this was my own personal decision after years of thought and suffering with severe pain in my neck shoulders and back.’

Charlotte Crosby, 32 – ‘I would never kiss anyone without a six-pack’

Charlotte has been open about her many procedures over the years, starting her surgery journey with a nose job in 2016 after being mocked by Geordie Shore viewers.

The following year she underwent surgery to correct ‘uniboob’ after she was body-shamed by vicious online trolls.

The reality sensation – who suffers from a medical condition called congenital symmastia – admitted that she would also compare herself to other girls, leading her to undergo the corrective surgery.

She is also a fan of lip fillers, getting them done on a regular basis until she decided to dissolve them last year.

Charlotte previously said: ‘I have had a public battle with my appearance, and have had to go through personal trauma & issues of self-confidence in the spotlight.’

Jay Gardner, 36 – ‘My biggest fear is getting wrinkles.’

Jay always prioritised his appearance on Geordie Shore, even referencing his fear of wrinkles in his opening line.

He spent hours in the gym working on his muscular frame but after struggling with a stubborn pocket of fat he underwent liposuction.

The reality star also had fillers in his chin to define his jawline, saying it ‘was important for me to be looking my best’, due to his public profile.

Earlier this month, Jay also raved about the results of non surgical hair loss tattooing, crediting it with filling out his hairline.

Ricci Guarnaccio, 36 – ‘Got the looks, got the charm; it just works.’

During his time on Geordie Shore, Ricci’s eyes were more focused on his love interest rather than his own appearance yet after he broke his nose in an argument it started a slippery slope to becoming addicted to surgery.

He told Daily Mail Australia in 2019: ‘I used to hate plastic surgery and was never interested in it, but now I understand when people get their first bit of plastic surgery (it can become addictive).

‘I just had my veneers done so this stuff (self-improvement) is never ending. I’ve had filler and Botox, but I’m not really bothered (anymore) about that stuff anyway.’

In 2021 he joked he was on his ‘fifth face’ after having two nose jobs, eyelid surgery, neck muscle tightening, Botox, fillers and veneers.

Marnie Simpson, 31 – ‘I’m a natural beauty; real boobs, real hair.’

While Marnie may have prided herself on her natural looks when she first started on Geordie Shore, she soon found herself going under the knife.

Her appearance quickly became altered so much that she was blocked at passport control because the e-passport scanner did not recognise her facial features.

She got her first nose job in 2014, a year after joining the show and went on to have two more.

The following year she went under the knife for a boob uplift, but the surgery left her with painful sores that she had to fixed on the TV show, Botched Up Bodies.

She has also dabbled with fillers, getting injections in her lips, cheeks and bottom.

The mother-of-two was diagnosed with body dysmorphia and said that she’s ‘learned a big lesson’ from her numerous cosmetic procedures.

Chantelle Connelly, 33 – ‘I’m radge and I’m gonna wrap the lads around my little finger.’

While Chantelle avoided the lure of the surgeon’s scalpel during her time on the show, two years after she quit she opted for a Brazilian Bum Lift, crediting the surgeons with ‘changing my life’, adding ‘You have given me all my confidence back!’

The following year, 2019, Chantelle welcomed a baby boy and just three weeks after giving birth she booked in for facial fillers.

She told her followers: ‘I’ve had 1ml in each side of my jaw just under a ml in my lips and non surgical rhinoplasty also contour and lift to the tip of my nose !

‘The results are amazing , give me so much confidence since having the baby so thank you.’

Kyle Christie, 30 – ‘I’m gonna make sparks fly, and get everyone feisty.’

In 2016, Kyle quit Geordie Shore and underwent a nose job, admitting he had always felt insecure about it after breaking his nose at a young age.

He opted for a hair transplant at the same time to sort out his receding hairline.

The following year, Kyle splashed out £9,000 for a beard transplant to fill out his ‘sparse’ facial stubble and accentuate the hair transplant he received last year.

Speaking about his procedures, he confessed: ‘It doesn’t make you happy, you’ve just got to love yourself. I’m not happier, I just feel more comfortable with my looks.’

While Geordie Shore was a ratings winner in 2011, over the years the viewership has dwindled, prompting show bosses to pull the plug.

At the height of its success more than one million people viewed each episode – it is now said to be at around 100,000 viewers.

The upcoming 24th season will reportedly air as planned, as well as the reunion, but there will be no more series going forward.

Over the years the show has been criticised for promoting binge drinking and concerns have been raised over the gratuitous sex scenes.
