The ‘super simple’ pie recipe requires Granny Smith apples, a cinnamon stick, sugar, lemon juice, water and shortcrust pastry
To make the pie, John first chopped five apples into cubes and placed the pieces in a bowl with the cinnamon stick, sugar, lemon juice, chocolate caramel seasoning and water.
The apples were then cooked in a pot on the stove while John prepared the shortcrust pastry.
Once the apple filling was cooked it was poured into the pastry tin and left to cool.
Another two apples were then thinly sliced and placed in a circular formation on top.
John’s secret tip is to add a sprinkle of chocolate sea-salt caramel seasoning onto the pie before its cooked in the oven.
