How to Travel During the Pandemic

One of the worst-hit industries during the Covid19 pandemic is the travel industry. The primary reason is that international travel is precisely how a localized disease turned into a global pandemic. You should not be traveling during this time until it is necessary. Unfortunately, a lot of us still have to travel due to unavoidable reasons. If you are one of those who have to travel during this time, here is how you can travel safer.

Backpacks

Understandably, often cabin-sized suitcases are not enough to carry all your belongings and you need to have extra space. Even when you do not require additional space, certain articles such as travel documents, laptops, etc. need to be kept handy and it is not convenient to reach out for them if they are in your suitcase. In such a case, it is strongly advised that you carry a backpack when traveling. You can take oversized backpacks and slip in laptops, clothes, and other articles easily. Even if you do not need extra space, drawstring backpacks are great for carrying your travel documents, phone, wallet, and other essentials. The best thing about drawstring backpacks is that they are light-weight and you can easily carry all your belongings without having to put them on counters or other high-touch areas.

Cabin-Sized Luggage

Even if you are generally a fan of traveling with oversized luggage, this is certainly not the time to do so. Educate yourself on how to pack light because that is the need of the hour. Over-sized suitcases mean that you will have to use the check-in facility. Your luggage will be thrown on the same conveyor belts that have come in contact with many other unknown suitcases. Later the ground staff physically loads and unloads the suitcases. The risks of coming in contact with a virus unknowingly are very high in this case.

Instead of taking along a full-sized suitcase, it is safer to take along a cabin-sized trolley. You can keep your suitcase under your supervision at all times and take it in the aircraft along with you. When getting off the plane, disinfect your luggage or use gloves when holding your luggage.

Avoid Non-Refundable Reservations

Traveling industry has never been so uncertain and unpredictable as it is now. This is because every country is following its own traveling protocols and restrictions depending on local ground situations. Under such circumstances, you should be extra careful when making reservations. Countries and states have been placing travel bans on and off, therefore your travel plans will still be uncertain despite having confirmed reservations. Do not make any non-refundable reservations and pay attention to cancellation policies.

Mask, Gloves, and Disinfectants

Airports these days are nothing short of a virus factory. The aircraft is even more dangerous since you are traveling in an enclosed capsule with other potential carriers. In this case, you need to practice extra precautions such as keeping your hands and mouth covered with gloves and masks at all times. Besides that, carry a travel-sized spray bottle of disinfectant to disinfect any surface before touching it.
