Princess Beatrice is stepping into the limelight to ‘help her grandmother the Queen’ following Prince Andrew’s downfall and is ‘much more confident’ after becoming a wife and a mother, royal authors have said.
The eldest daughter of The Duke and Duchess of York, 33, has made regular public appearances this spring, enjoying both solo outings and the company of her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi at official engagements.
Yesterday she attended a garden party at Buckingham Palace as one of a host of royals who were standing in for the Queen, 96, who has bowed out of this year’s garden parties amid ongoing mobility issues.
She has also visited the Chelsea Flower Show alongside Edo and the Royal Windsor Horse Show for a Platinum Jubilee celebration this month, while in April she joined members of the Swedish royal family in Stockholm to attend the World Dyslexia Assembly Sweden.
Yet the mother-of-one, who welcomed her daughter Sienna in September 2021, has previously been seen as rather private, having had a surprise secret wedding on 17 July 2020, and reportedly held a ‘private christening’ for her daughter earlier this month.

Royal author Angela Levin added that the Queen’s granddaughter is ‘reliable’ and ‘trusted’ by the Firm and seen as ‘much more confident’ since welcoming her daughter and marrying Edo.

Speaking to FEMAIL, Angela said: ‘I think [Beatrice] is a trusted member of the royal family and seen as somebody who is sound.
‘When her father was going to be interviewed by Emily [Maitlis for BBC Newsnight in 2019], she was the one who told him not to do it.
‘And now she is married and a mother, she is seen as much more confident,’ added the royal biographer, who said Beatrice has always been seen as ‘having good judgement’ and being ‘reliable’.
Royal biographer Ingrid said: ‘Princess Beatrice is a lovely person and I imagine she wants to help her grandmother as much as she can.
‘She has a baby but has a top Norland nanny to take over when necessary. So I think she enjoys doing royal events with her husband and has the ability and wherewithal to do them.’
Beatrice’s father Andrew stepped down from public duties in 2019 and earlier this year paid millions out of court to settle a civil sexual assault case.
He was stripped of his honorary military titles and forced to no longer use his HRH style, but he played a key role in March when he escorted his mother to the Duke of Edinburgh’s thanksgiving service.

For her outing yesterday, Beatrice cut an elegant figure in a £320 Self Portrait check dress as she joined the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at the garden party at Buckingham Palace.
She was among several royals standing in for the monarch, who traditionally oversees four garden parties each summer but has bowed out of this year’s engagements amid ongoing mobility issues.
The annual garden parties, which are held between Buckingham Palace and Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh, are a way for the monarch to celebrate and reward those who have distinguished themselves in public service.
They require the royal hosts to spend more than an hour on their feet as they make their way through the crowd.
The Queen, who will celebrate her Platinum Jubilee next week, is increasingly relying on senior royals including Prince Charles, the Duchess of Cornwall and Prince William to stand in her stead at high profile engagements.

Beatrice’s appearance at the event comes days after she and her husband Edoardo attended the Royal Chelsea Flower Show and the preview of A Gallop Through History, which formed part of the Royal Windsor Horse Show.
It is the first time the garden parties have been held since 2019 after they were cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The annual Buckingham Palace garden parties, started in the 1860s by Queen Victoria, are a way of recognising and rewarding public service and see people from all walks of life enjoy high tea on the lawn to the sounds of a military band.
Each year, the Queen invites 30,000 people to attend the parties. At each garden party, around 27,000 cups of tea, 20,000 sandwiches and 20,000 slices of cake are consumed.
For the occasion men are asked to wear morning dress or lounge suits while women are invited to wear a ‘day dress, usually with hats or fascinators’.
Three garden parties have been held at Buckingham Palace in May, followed by a party at Holyroodhouse in August.
