A huge two-metre brown snake has been discovered tangled underneath a washing machine.

The deadly snake was discovered in the laundry of a family home in Kenilworth, west of Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, mid-morning last week.

Stuart Mckenzie from Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers 24/7 was called to the job but the eastern brown had disappeared before he arrived.

The photo of the discovery was sent to Mr Mckenzie before he drove to the home.

‘Imagine going to throw the dirty washing in the machine and seeing a brown coloured tail disappearing under it,’ he said.

‘It would definitely be an acceptable excuse not to do the washing.’

The post was liked over 700 times and 100 people commented on the thread.

‘I always want an excuse to not do the washing but this is definitely not one of them!’ one wrote.

‘You would never think of doing the washing the same again,’ another wrote.

One added: ‘I knew house work was dangerous.’

Mr Mckenzie told Daily Mail Australia the panicked family called because they thought the snake was stuck.

‘I wasn’t surprised to learn the snake was found underneath the washing machine,’ he said.

‘It was probably looking for mice to eat and it’s not uncommon for snakes to hunt underneath furniture and houses.’

He said the owners ‘got a little too close’ when they took the photo.

‘Please ensure you are a safe distance away from a snake in your house or yard even if you are trying to get a good photo,’ he wrote on Facebook.

‘A good photo is not worth getting bitten over!’

Eastern brown snakes: Australia’s deadliest snake breed

– The eastern brown snake is the species most responsible for deaths caused by snake bites in Australia.

– Although they are dangerous, they will always try to avoid a confrontation and will only attack as a last resort if they are threatened.

-They are native to eastern Australia, but can be found anywhere between the coast to the central desert.

-It inhabits a wide range of habitats but is particularly prevalent in open grasslands, pastures and woodland, and they help farmers reduce rodents.

-They may exceed two metres in length and, on hot days, can move at surprising speed.

-Colour can range from uniform tan to grey or dark brown while their bellies can be cream, yellow or pale orange with darker orange spots.

-The females produce clutches of up to 30 eggs in late spring or early summer.
