Actor Hugh Grant was branded ‘arrogant and patronising’ yesterday after he said Brexit means ‘the country’s finished’.

The Left-wing millionaire also described Britain’s exit from the EU as ‘a catastrophe’ in an interview for his new film.

When the journalist asked: ‘How are you feeling now everything’s kind of settled, are you encouraged any?’, Grant replied: ‘No, it’s a catastrophe.’

The journalist pressed on: ‘No bright light on the horizon?’

Grant, 59, said: ‘No, no, the country’s finished.’

The actor famously joined the election campaign in four constituencies – in each case to bring publicity for Remain candidates fighting Conservative Brexiteers in seats they thought were winnable. 

One of those targeted – ex-Tory leader Iain Duncan Smith – called his latest words ‘arrogant and patronising’.
