Tottenham ace Hugo Lloris reports for pre-season training five days before Premier League opener at Newcastle
- France captain Hugo Lloris arrived back at Tottenham training on Monday
- He had been given a delayed return date after winning the World Cup in July
- His return to Spurs came just five days before their first game of the new season
Tottenham were reunited with their captain on Monday morning as Hugo Lloris returned to training after an eventful summer.
Lloris had skippered France to World Cup glory in Russia just 22 days earlier, before taking a delayed summer holiday with his family.
Having missed all four of Tottenham’s pre-season friendlies, including the weekend’s 4-1 defeat by Girona, it is unclear whether Lloris will start on Saturday when his side kick-off their Premier League campaign with a trip to Newcastle United.

Spurs celebrated the return on Lloris on Twitter by uploading a video of the goalkeeper entering the club’s Enfield training base. It was captioned: ‘Welcome back, World Cup winner!’
Lloris looked relaxed as he strolled in wearing white shorts and a black tee-shirt, while carrying a small washbag.
Frenchman Lloris was not the only player returning to Tottenham after going deep at the World Cup.
England quintet Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Kieran Tripper, Eric Dier and Danny Rose had also been pencilled in as late returners after being involved until the final weekend at Russia 2018 — as had Belgians Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld and Mousa Dembele.
