Human brain specimen is confiscated at the US-Canada border in Michigan after it is found in a mail truck

  • Customs and border protection officers discovered a human brain specimen in Port Huron, Michigan inside a Canadian mail truck as it was entering the US 
  • Agents were inspecting the truck when they came across a shipment manifested as an ‘Antique Teaching Specimen’
  • When they opened the package, they found the specimen inside a clear glass mason jar
  • There were no accompanying documents that would allow it to be brought in legally
  • The shipment, which originated from Toronto, Ontario, was destined for Kenosha, Wisconsin 

Border officials found a human brain in a mail truck crossing the US-Canada border in Michigan.  

The truck was entering the US at Port Huron at the Blue Water Bridge on Friday when the unusual package was discovered.  

Officers were reportedly inspecting the truck when they came across a shipment manifested as an ‘Antique Teaching Specimen.’

To their surprise, when they opened the package they found a human brain specimen inside a clear glass mason jar.

There were reportedly no accompanying documents that would have allowed the brain to be brought into the country legally. 

Area Port Director Michael Fox said, ‘Individuals looking to import shipments such as this, need to remember that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has a strict Import Permit Program that must be adhered to.

‘This is just another great example of just one of the many things CBP officers do to protect our nation on a daily basis.’

The shipment, which originated from Toronto, Ontario, was destined for Kenosha, Wisconsin.
