An abusive red-headed cyclist who allegedly attacked and choked a motorist in a popular beach-side suburb of Perth is wanted by Wembley Police.

The fair-skinned biking bandit confronted a man in his 50s who had parked his white van on the side of Cottesloe’s beach-facing main drag on Marine Parade.

The man had just driven past the cyclist in his a white van driving towards Fremantle.

The popular affluent beach-side suburb of Cottesloe west of Perth is famous for its beaches, cafes and relaxed lifestyle.

But during this roadside altercation on December 27 the cyclist ‘became aggressive and abusive to the driver, before kicking the car side mirror, damaging it,’ a police spokesperson said this week.

‘He then assaulted the driver by grabbing the man around the neck and threw him to the ground.’

The cyclist then rode away.

Wembley Police have released an image of a man they believe can assist with the investigation.

The man is described as being around 183cm tall with fair skin and red hair.

He spoke with what seemed to be an English accent and was wearing dark lycra cycling wear and riding a multi-coloured bicycle with tri-spoke wheels.

‘One wonders how aggressively the white van passed the cyclist before the incident,’ wrote someone on Facebook.

‘Yep another bike warrior!’ someone else said.
