Police are hunting a man riding a red bicycle after a woman was attacked and robbed in Maroubra

Police are hunting a man riding a red bicycle after a woman was attacked and robbed.

The 28-year-old woman was pushed to the ground as she walked in Maroubra in Sydney’s east.

The man allegedly stole her handbag and detectives investigating have released a photograph of a man smoking a cigarette on a bike.

They are now trying track him down as they believe he can help with inquiries, a spokesman for New South Wales Police said on Saturday. 

The victim was not injured during the incident at 7pm on March 12 in Mons Avenue and the man was last seen running away from the scene.

The image shows the man riding the red bicycle which has a basket on the front.

He was wearing a blue and white T-shirt and tan coloured trousers. 

Police described the man as being of Caucasian appearance, aged in his 30s, and about 183cm tall with an athletic build and short blond or brown hair. 

He also has a tattoo on the right side of his neck.

A spokesman for NSW Police said: ‘Police were alerted and officers from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command attended and commenced an investigation.

‘Following inquiries, detectives have released an image of a man they believe can assist.

‘Anyone with information is urged to contact police.’
