Hurlstone Park Railway Station tragedy as man is hit and killed by train

Man is hit and killed by a train in a horrific accident at a busy Sydney station – causing long delays across the rail network

  • Man, 52, died after he was hit by a train at Hurlstone Park Railway Station
  • He had stepped off carriage when the train departed and hit him on Saturday 
  • The man fell onto the tracks and emergency services were called to the scene
  • Emergency workers performed CPR on him before transporting him to hospital 

A man has died after being hit by a train at a busy station in a horrific accident.

The 53-year-old had stepped off the train at Hurlstone Park Railway Station, in Sydney’s inner west, at about 1.20am on Saturday.

As the train departed from the station it hit the man before sending him onto the tracks.

Local police and paramedics attended the grisly scene and attempted to perform CPR on the man.

He was transported to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a critical condition and he died a short time later.

The train driver and train guard undertook mandatory testing.

As police investigated the scene train services running through the station were delayed for around an hour.

Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
