Husband, 35, is charged with the murder of his wife, 28, as her family pay tribute to her

A 35-year-old man has been charged with the murder of his wife as her family pays tribute to the mother-of three who ‘loved life and lit up every room’. 

Christopher Llewellyn Kerrell, of Whitton, a village near Knighton, Powys, is accused of killing the Hollie Kerrell, 28, whose body was found on Thursday.

Dyfed-Powys Police said detectives are not looking for anyone else in connection with her death and Kerrell will appear in court on Saturday.

Mrs Kerrell, a keen horsewoman, was last seen at her home in Knuckles at around 10am on Sunday. She was reported missing to police on Tuesday.

In a statement released by police on Friday, Mrs Kerrell’s mother, children and five sisters said: ‘Our beautiful Hollie loved life and lit up every room she was in.

‘She was the glue that held our family together and she will be missed terribly.’ 

They added that the mother ‘loved life and lit up every room she was in’.

Forensic officers spent three days in the terraced property which was deserted on Thursday.

Children’s bikes, scooters, toys and wellington boots were scattered over the front garden. 

Friends said the children were being cared for by relatives.

Mrs Kerrell’s friends appealed for information online. Prior to his arrest, Mr Kerrell had joined in search parties. He also posted appeals on his Facebook page.

The couple married five years ago. Mrs Kerrell, from Devon, worked for Younique cosmetics, selling to local women and online. She also knitted baby clothes and cot blankets and sold them at a market stall in Llandrindod Wells.

Neighbours said her husband, who set up his own firm in January, had a good job with a local utilities company.

He has a son, 10, from a previous relationship. Mr Kerrell grew up in the Knighton area but moved to Devon after meeting Hollie through work seven years ago.

The pair returned to Mid Wales when they started a family.

Ian Ives-Dean, 37, a friend of Mrs Kerrell, said: ‘We are all hoping that Hollie will turn up somewhere. But we know the police are searching for a body and we are all dreading the moment when something is found.

‘Hollie is such a treasured member of the community, a lovely lady and a good mother.’
