Husband, 83, charged with murdering his wife, 79, on Christmas Day faces court

  • His wife, 79, was found with life threatening injuries at 10pm on Christmas Day
  • She died on Thursday in hospital and her husband will face court on Friday 

An elderly man charged with the murder of his wife in regional Victoria on Christmas Day will face the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Friday.

Edward Rowen, 83, was charged with one count of murder for the killing of his 79-year-old wife Rosalie Rowen in Creswick.

His lawyer argued he was vulnerable and that this had been the first time he had been in custody.

Police had found his wife with life threatening injuries at a home on Melbourne Road after 10pm on Wednesday.

She was taken to hospital where she died on Thursday morning.
