A husband has claimed he gritted his teeth, tensed his body and cried during his wife’s labor because he could ‘feel’ her ‘excruciating’ pain.

William Trice Battle, 31, from Dallas, Texas, penned the heartfelt message on Facebook  after watching his wife of one year, Lauren, 27, give birth to their son Roman.

He also said that both his wife, and the baby, were a ‘miracle’ and her labor took ‘every ounce of life and energy she had in her’.

‘The pain was so intense, so overwhelming, that even I felt it,’ he wrote. ‘Everyone in the room felt it. Yet she pulled through. Her pain was gruesome. Her struggle seemed almost unbearable.

‘I found myself gritting my teeth when she did, tensing my entire body when her contractions hit, and shedding tears along with her.

‘All while realizing that I was merely a passenger, never to truly understand the excruciating pain she was experiencing.

‘She gave her labor every ounce of life and energy she had in her. And then gave a little bit more.

‘And through it all, at the end of it she selflessly gave all of us a glimpse into what she has been enjoying exclusively to herself for the past nine months. We all finally get to love and hold the boy that she sacrificed her body, comfort, energy, and self for.

‘My son is an absolute miracle. Babies are absolute miracles.

‘But to me, the greater miracle is his mother, who has shown me what selfless sacrifice really is. What love really is. My wife is the real miracle.’

The Rockwall kids pastor told Bored Panda that before the birth his wife had barely slept for two days.

Explaining his decision to be in the birthing room, he said he wanted to be there during ‘one of the scariest moments of her life’.

‘Little did I know’, he added, ‘that it would end up being one of the scariest moments of my own’.

Describing the birth he said that all attention was on the baby, while his attention was on his wife.

‘She never looked more beautiful to me’, he said.
