Hyatt hotel guests must wear face masks indoors from today

Face masks are now required to be worn by guests at all Hyatt hotels in the United States and Canada.

The nose and mouth must be covered in all indoor public areas and when moving around in outdoor areas.

Face coverings for guests were previously ‘strongly encouraged’ or mandated in accordance with Hyatt policy and/or local guidance.

But the new strict measures from the hotel group, headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, came into effect across the North America on Monday effecting the way Americans are relaxing poolside this summer.

Alongside brands such as the Intercontinental Hotel Group, Hyatt cited the American Hotel & Lodging Association’s Safe Stay checklist when announcing that face coverings were required indoors two weeks ago.

‘Some guests may be exempt from this mandate, including but not limited to people with medical conditions, consuming food or beverages in restaurants, and children under the age of 2 years,’ Hyatt said.

Guests who do not have masks will be provided with one by the hotel.

‘This new policy comes at a pivotal time amidst the ongoing challenges of Covid-19 and helps us care for the health and safety of our guests and colleagues,’ Hyatt president and CEO Mark Hoplamazian previously said in a statement.
