‘I am hurt beyond belief’: Eamonn Holmes SLAMS Gogglebox for their editing of him

Eamonn Holmes has fired criticism at Gogglebox following his appearance on Friday night’s show.

The This Morning presenter, 60, described their editing as ‘idiotic and cruel’ in a series of tweets after he received backlash from comments he made.

Eamonn hit out at Channel 4 for choosing to air a clip of the star laughing and joking instead of him discussing his father’s death.

Following the episode, he took to Twitter and shared: ‘In reply to a number of complaints …. I am hurt beyond belief that @C4Gogglebox chose not to use me talking about my Father dying from a heart attack at the side of a road…

‘[They] replace it with a funny story following a young lad giving his Father CPR. Idiotic and cruel edit.’

He then shared: ‘So following a tragedy that has forever haunted my family, I am in no mood for criticising holier than thou mouthpieces on here who haven’t gone through what we did.

‘I had nothing but praise and emotion for the Ambulance control room TV programme. An atrocious edit.’

Finally the star wrote: ‘How my Father died was a particularly horrible experience for my Mother, my younger brother and his friend who were all in the car.

‘The resuscitation in The BBC Ambulance programme was as close as could be to my Dad’s passing. Yet I am the one edited to make it look like a laugh.’

MailOnline have reached out to Channel 4 for comment.

In the scene that Eamonn criticised, the celebrities were moved by a touching story where a child phoned 999 to report that her father was having a heart attack.

He lost consciousness, and appeared to have died, but the child was amazingly able to resuscitate him.

This brought Eamonn and Ruth’s conversation to Ruth’s labour with their son Jack, born in 2002.

Eamonn said: ‘All I can say is, when your contractions started when you had Jack.

‘I don’t like singing my own praises, but thank goodness I was the ambulance that day, I got you there in the nick of time.’

When Ruth said she still had to give him directions to the hospital he shared: ‘Look, did I get you there? Did you have the child in the hospital under medical supervision?

‘All’s well that ends well, thanks to me.’

Following this viewers at home began tweeting criticism of the ‘insensitive’ moment.

One wrote: ‘@EamonnHolmes comparing taking Ruth to hospital to have a baby – with a 10 year old lad doing chest compressions on his dad that’s just had a heart attack – is beyond belief!’

Another shared: ‘Did Eamonn Holmes just compare driving his wife to hospital to a 10 year old child giving chest compressions to his dying dad on #CelebrityGogglebox? Unreal…’

However, the presenter did not ignore the trolls and instead hit back with: ‘Please read my posts. I’m then expecting an apology or an understanding from you ….. or are you not man enough ?’

In another tweet he penned: ‘I’m devastated that the Boy, the Ambulance Service and my whole family have been hurt by this …. sometimes I despair at decision making in TV.’

However, another viewer decided to tell Eamonn it is ‘not all about’ him in a cruel tweet following him expressing his upset.

They wrote: ‘Not all about you. It’s light entertainment programme.’

To which he curtly replied: ‘Shut up.’

When one viewer chimed in: ‘Hang on now, don’t blame the editors. On a programme like this it’s the Edit Producer who will decide the cut, not the Editor. Be careful who you blame and scapegoat if you don’t know the process.’

Hitting back: Eamonn hit back at many users who criticised him and told one viewer: 'I know the process much better than you I am sure'

Eamonn became enraged and hit back: ‘You are another one who can F**k off …. don’t lecture me on the process. I know the process much better than youI’m sure. For simplicity I don’t need to be an anorak like you ! Technically, you are right but you sound a right bore !’

Another viewer lashed out at Eamonn by sharing: ‘Sorry but you talking about you after a 10 year old saved his dad’s life was very bad taste.’

To which he replied: ‘Read the post… or are you just thick?’

Finally the star decided enough was enough and he told fans he was putting his phone down and going to bed.

He shared: ‘Thank you everyone for seeing what happened tonight. Just awful that it did and that I have had to explain.

‘Anyone who works in The Ambulance Service or who has experienced the impact of Sudden Death will understand. I now need to put my phone down. Goodnight.’
