I don’t want my brother-in-law around my daughter because of his life choices

A woman has been slammed on social media after revealing she doesn’t want her brother-in-law to spend time with his unborn niece because she considers his dating habits to be ‘bulls**t’.

Posting to the US discussion forum Reddit, the mother-to-be used popular page ‘Am I The A**hole’ to ask for feedback, explaining that she’s concerned about her brother-in-law, 31, and his attitude to women.

She explained that she doesn’t like the fact her husband’s bachelor brother has no intention of getting married or having kids, and is only interested in women for sex rather than a serious relationship.

He’s accused her of being ‘moralistic’ and insisted he’s always upfront with the people he’s dating – but she doesn’t believe that a lot of women would stay in a relationship with no future.

However, commenters accused her of being judgmental and said there are plenty of women who don’t want children in the future.

Explaining her concenrs, the expectant mother wrote: ‘I recently told my husband that I don’t feel comfortable with the idea of his brother spending much time with my daughter once she’s born. It’s not because of my brother-in-law himself. We’re not close but he’s fine. The issue is his life choices.

‘He’s not married, has no intention of getting married or having kids, and dates only for sexual purposes.

‘He dates multiple women and the only thing he has in common with them is that, like him, they are extremely good looking.

‘He’s highly intelligent, yet he has no interest in meaningful relationships.

‘I spoke to him about his choices a few years ago, and after accusing me of being “moralistic”, he claims that he always uses protection and he never leads the women on.

‘Which I call BS on, as I can’t imagine any woman with an increasing ticking biological clock would willingly be in a relationship which she knows doesn’t have a future. Not to mention, what woman would want to be with someone who may not even remember your name in a year’s time?

‘I probably should have clarified that he generally goes onto apps like Tinder. Which makes it worse, as the women he dates tend to be of a certain type.

‘I mentioned this to my husband, however he called me an a*****e, and said that it was ridiculous to limit our daughter’s access with her uncle just because I don’t agree with his legal dating choices.’

The post, which has already been upvoted over 5,000 times, was quickly flooded with comments from people criticising the mother-to-be for her opinion, particularly the point where she insinuated every other woman wants children and has a ‘ticking biological clock’.

One reply, which has been upvoted itself over 41,000 times, bluntly read: ‘ It’s 2023. It’s okay for women to like sex outside of the quest to “land” a husband. As long as he’s being honest and safe, what’s the problem?’

Another person added: ‘Yes. And not all women even want children. I do not hear my biological clock. It must be digital, because it doesn’t tick.’

‘Mine is apparently broken because I declared at 12 I didn’t want kids. 41 now and yep, still don’t want them,’ agreed another Redditor.

Someone else agreed, writing: ‘Ditto. OP it’s 2023 FFS. There are plenty of women who only want to scratch an itch – just because you chose a different option doesn’t make them bad but apparently it makes you incredibly judgmental and yes, definitely moralistic (I would’ve used stronger words…)

‘I have tons of friends of all types who use Tinder so what the hell do you mean by “a certain type”?.’

Another person called out the woman for judging, also accusing her of hating women, writing: ‘Yeah I mean it’s such a weird concept… I won’t let my baby daughter be around a relative who has a sex life I don’t approve of, weird and a bit ick?

‘Also why does she hate women? None of her comments about women are nice… tbh I’d hate to have a mum like that who finds human intimacy so abhorrent. You are the a*****e, stop judging EVERYONE soooo much!’

Some people even went so far as to suggest the original poster may be attracted to the brother-in-law, which is why she is so upset about his lifestyle.

One conspiracy theorist wondered: ‘It’s giving “my brother-in-law rejected me” vibes”.’

Clearly in agreement, someone replied to the comment, writing: ‘I think you are on to something.’

‘This makes so much sense. I was like flabbergasted, but if it’s jealousy it makes sense, she is trying to punish her brother-in-law. Using her child… disgusting behaviour,’ added another person.

While a fourth Redditor simply wrote: ‘Yeah. OP [Originap Poster} wants him.’
