‘I got sick of her nagging, poking and prodding’ says man who ‘murdered his wife and four children’

Michael Jones Jr. 38, of Summerfield, Florida, is charged in the fatal baseball bat beating of his wife and deaths of their four young kids, whom were either drowned or strangled

A husband charged in the fatal baseball bat beating of his wife and deaths of his four young kids admits in newly released evidence that there was trouble in the relationship and that the stress was starting to get to him.

Michael Jones Jr. 38, of Summerfield, Florida, said he was subjected to ‘nagging, poking and prodding’ by his now deceased wife Casei Jones, whose body was found in the husband’s minivan after the vehicle crashed while he was driving in Brantley County, Georgia on September 18, reports News4Jax.

The 32-year-old mother’s decomposing corpse was discovered when cops who arrived on the scene smelled a strong odor coming from the vehicle.

Jones later led police into the woods in nearby Charlton County, to find the buried remains of his children, Aiyana, 1; Mercalli Jones, 2; Preston, 5; and Cameron Bowers, 10.

The siblings had either been strangled, or drowned, police said.

All five were reported missing and its suspected Jones was driving around with his wife’s corpse for up to six weeks when he crashed his minivan.

His motive for the slayings remains unclear, but during an interrogation in a jail where he was being held, he admits that he’s ‘relieved to be right here’.

The State Attorney’s Office for Marion County, Florida, released the new evidence Thursday, revealing video-recordings of police interviews with Jones after his arrest in Georgia.

Body camera footage also was released showing investigators searching Jones’ Florida home, which also had a strong odor, as well as images of his minivan after the crash.

Jones told investigators in the videos that his wife suspected him of cheating on her and that problems in their relationship were starting to pile up.

“It just got worse. Like little things all the time with her. She would come at me and we’d argue. It never really got physical’, he said.

One time, he claims, he decided to sleep on the floor, but couldn’t get away from his wife’s abuse.

‘I’m laying on the floor on my belly and she’s got her phone with the flash light in my face, like right in my face. And… (inaudible) it just wouldn’t stop. It was several hours of that kind of stuff, ‘ he tells an investigator in a video of one of the interrogations.

Jones admitted that after a while, he started to crack from the strain.

‘It was just building up, building up, building up’, he said in the footage. ‘Before I knew it, it was too much’.

Also released was a voicemail from Jones’ ex-wife and biological mother of two of the children, Sarah Jones, who now lives in Jacksonville, Florida, when she heard Casei was missing, reports News4Jax.

“It was really quick… visit with the kids, so I only can confirm I saw Michael. But it’s actually been a while since I saw Casei in person. For what it’s worth, a lot of drama comes along with her, so I would be very surprised if this were not just some sort of stunt, if I may say so,” Jones said.

Jones says after a while, he started to crack from the strain of his marriage. 'It was just building up, building up, building up', he said in the interrogation footage. 'Before I knew it, it was too much'. He said that he was 'relieved to be right here', referring to the jail he was being held in
