She may be a humble former nurse from south Sydney – but Jenny Morrison looks right at home in the White House.
The Prime Minister’s wife, revered by Australians for her down-to-earth nature, flashed a beaming smile as she chatted with First Lady Melania Trump at the State Dinner in Washington DC on Friday night.
Turning heads in a black sequinned gown which she chose herself, 51-year-old Mrs Morrison looked at ease alongside former model Melania, 49.
PM Scott Morrison shared a photo of the pair sitting together on his Instagram account and fawned over his dazzling wife.
‘Just had to share this,’ he wrote. ‘Such a lovely photo of Jen and the First Lady.’

Mr Morrison also thanked the Trumps in the post for a ‘wonderful evening’.
Commentators were quick to agree with the Prime Minister’s assessment of his wife.
After Daily Mail Australia revealed Mrs Morrison chooses her own dresses, one fan commented: ‘Jen looks beautiful without a stylist.’
The picture was taken during an official state dinner as U.S. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania welcomed the pair to dine in the White House’s Rose Garden on Friday evening
One female fan simply said: ‘So beautiful.’
‘Jen looks stunning and it’s a pleasure to have such a lovely person as Australia’s First Lady,’ another added.
The heart-warming moment came hours after the two women were captured getting off to an awkward start.
When they met earlier in the day, Melania and Jenny appeared uncertain whether to shake hands or hug before negotiating a cheek-to-cheek kiss.
Rumours of tension were exacerbated when they looked uncomfortable posing next to each other in photos taken shortly after.
However, by dinner time any uneasiness appeared to have worn off as the pair opted for a smooth side peck and grinned for the cameras.
The Morrisons are on a week-long trip to the United States to reinforce the ongoing partnership between the two countries.
It is the first time Scott Morrison has visited the White house since he became the Australian Prime minister during the Liberal party spill in 2018.
