An irate motorist was prevented from getting to his job as a sustainable energy engineer this morning due to climate protesters.

The furious scooter driver blasted a group of eco-warriors blocking off Vauxhall Bridge in London with a human barrier during rush hour.

He fumed: ‘I’m a engineer, I work in f***ing sustainable energy. How can I save the world if I can’t get to f***ing work?’

The activists caused a queue of traffic that took drivers 45 minutes to get through.

Tensions flared as drivers and motorcyclists came face to face with campaigners on the bridge.

One protester was even punched in the chest by a passerby while trying to give him a leaflet.

He fumed: 'I'm a engineer, I work in f***ing sustainable energy. How can I save the world if I can't get to f***ing work?'

The clashes come as Extinction Rebellion activists continue to take over London’s streets and cause misery for commuters.

Officers were slammed by their own commander today after being filmed raving and skateboarding with the protesters, and one at Waterloo Bridge told bystanders he believed the disruption could last until next Friday.

Elsewhere police were even spotted skateboarding on Waterloo Bridge and sleeping in a car at a protest campsite, as politicians criticised Scotland Yard’s response to the activists who have now blocked key routes for four days.

Met Commissioner Cressida Dick, who has not yet made a public statement on the protests, said more than 1,000 officers were on patrol daily this week.

But a group of them were seen dancing with demonstrators at Oxford Circus who chanted ‘we love you’.

As anger grows amid threats that the disruption could affect the Easter getaway at Heathrow Airport, Home Secretary Sajid Javid said he wanted police to use the ‘full force of the law’ against protesters who act illegally.

But Mayor Sadiq Khan suggested police funding cuts were restricting the Met’s abilities, while ex-commissioner Lord Stevens said: ‘You have to clear the streets… you have to bring in police resources. Enough is enough.’

Today, the protesters turned their attention to Vauxhall Bridge – having already taken over Waterloo Bridge, Oxford Circus, Parliament Square and Marble Arch.
