  • Huntley has lost decorator job in prison after making threats to prison officers

Soham murderer Ian Huntley is being investigated by prison bosses over his relationship with a transgender inmate.

Huntley, 45, who killed Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman in August 2002, is understood to be in a relationship with a prisoner who is currently transitioning, called Luna.

A source told The Sun: ‘Everyone in here calls Luna Huntley’s ‘girlfriend’ and they spend a lot of time together, including in his cell.

‘No one knows if anything physical has happened between them.

Huntley, 45, who killed Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman in August 2002, is understood to be in a relationship with a prisoner who is currently transitioning called Luna.

‘Luna wears make-up, dresses in female clothes and identifies as a woman.

‘She is likely to end up in a women’s prison, which will upset Huntley. He does not have many friends and hardly has any visitors.’

Huntley is also thought to have lost his £20-a-week job as a painter and decorator at the jail after making threats to prison officers. He has also been barred from buying any luxury items from the jail canteen.

Sources claim it is linked to questions from other inmates over Luna.

Huntley’s victims Holly and Jessica went missing from a family barbecue in the Cambridgeshire village of Soham on August 4, 2002.

Huntley had lured the girls to his house and murdered them before dumping their bodies in a remote ditch.

He was a caretaker at the local Soham Village College, was arrested after the girls’ bodies were discovered 13 days later.

During a two-week appeal to find the girls, Huntley gave TV interviews and joined in searches while his then-girlfriend Maxine Carr gave him a false alibi.

He was jailed for life in 2005 and is serving his sentence at HMP Frankland, in Durham. Carr was jailed for perverting the course of justice. She was released in 2004 with a new identity.

The Ministry of Justice said: ‘We don’t comment on individual prisoners.’
