Ian Thorpe and Ryan Channing have ‘rekindled their romance and are on the verge of getting ENGAGED’

They split in June shortly after revealing they wanted to start a family together.

But on Friday, a source close to Ian Thorpe and Ryan Channing revealed that the pair are back on and things are going swimmingly.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia, the insider said the couple have ‘rekindled their romance’ while holidaying in Ibiza, Spain, and ‘may even get engaged.’

It comes as the pair were pictured together soaking up the sun in the island paradise, in an image obtained by Daily Mail Australia.

It’s believed the couple will soon be heading to the nearby island of Formentera, with a possible engagement on the cards.

The insider also revealed that Australian model Shanina Shaik, who has been holidaying in Ibiza, will join the pair over the next few days.

Olympic swimmer Ian, 36, is then said to then be flying home, before joining Ryan in Mykonos for his 30th birthday this month.

Last month, it was reported that Ian was devastated by the news that Ryan planned to have a baby without him after their split.

Woman’s Day claimed that the business owner’s announcement ‘came as a blow’ to the famed swimmer.

In an interview with WHO magazine last month, Ryan, 29, revealed he’s ‘halfway through the fertility process’.

In the sit down, Ryan said the baby plans are ‘going ahead without Ian’ and that he’d love ‘to have a little boy’.

With the fertility process well underway, Ryan added: ‘I’m just about to choose my surrogate.’

Back in January, Ryan and Ian, 36, said they hoped to have a baby together.

However, the couple split in June after four years of dating, with reports at the time suggesting Ian wasn’t ready to become a father.

But Ryan confirmed to Who magazine that fatherhood wasn’t the reason for their split.

‘There has been talk Ian wasn’t ready for a family. I can’t comment on his behalf, but that was never a discussion as to why we were separating,’ he said.

‘It was more around the busy lifestyles we lead now and the fact it was hard to manage the relationship with the travel schedules we have.’

Ryan also told The Daily Telegraph in June that their split was amicable.

‘Yes, the rumours are true, we have parted ways… We have stayed friends,’ he said at the time.
