Idaho cult mom Lori Vallow and her husband have until Thursday to produce her two missing children

‘Doomsday cult’ mother Lori Vallow and her husband Chad Daybell were given a deadline by authorities to produce her two missing children after investigators said there was no indication the kids were with the newlyweds who were located over the weekend in Hawaii.

The Madison County Prosecutor’s Office received a court order that requires Vallow to physically produce the missing children in Rexburg, Idaho, by Thursday.

The couple was served by police in Kaua’i with two search warrants related to the location of her missing children, seven-year-old Joshua ‘J.J.’ Vallow and 17-year-old Tylee Ryan.

The couple have been on the run for two months after abandoning their home in Rexburg, when police came to question them about the children’s whereabouts.

No arrest warrants have been issued for Lori or Chad, who relatives say are members of a dangerous doomsday cult.

‘We can confirm that Lori Vallow was served with that order in the city of Princeville on the island of Kaua’i, Hawaii, on Saturday, January 25, by the Kaua’i Police Department, and that Chad Daybell was with her,’ said Rexburg Police and the Madison County Prosecutor’s office in a press release.

Lori and Chad were seen for the first time since news of her children’s disappearance captured national attention in a video recorded after  police in Hawaii served them with search warrants on Sunday. The couple refused to say where the children are or confirm that they are alive

‘There is no evidence that Tylee and J.J. were ever in Hawaii.’

If Lori doesn’t appear with her children in Rexburg by the Thursday deadline, she could face civil or criminal contempt of court charges, authorities said.

Rexburg Police Chief Shane Turman said that law enforcement agencies have known for some time that the couple was in Hawaii.

Turman said that two officers from Rexburg, a prosecutor from Madison County, and a deputy from Fremont County are in Hawaii to assist with the case.

Lori and Chad were seen for the first time since the children’s disappearance in video recorded by the East Idaho News at the scene where police delivered the warrants on Sunday.

They stayed silent and kept walking as a reporter repeatedly asked them where the children are and if they are alive.

Lori only spoke once after the reporter said that people eastern Idaho and across the country are praying for J.J. and Tylee.

‘That’s great,’ she replied.

Chad kept his mouth shut throughout the entire exchange, merely grimacing when the reporter mentioned his previous wife, who died two weeks before he married Lori.

Authorities say Chad and Lori have been hiding out in a gated community in Princeville, Hawaii.

They were stopped by police while driving a black Ford Explorer along the Kuhio Highway and pulled into the Kaua’i Beach Resort, where officers handed them a search warrant for their vehicle.

Lori was placed into one police vehicle and Chad into another as a tow truck came to seize their SUV – but both were released soon after.

Federal, Idaho and Hawaii officers then went to the couple’s townhouse in Princeville to execute a search warrant there.

Police declined to say what they were searching for or if any evidence was found.

Lori, dressed in a tank top, cropped leggings, sandals and sunglasses, was seen gathering belongings from her vehicle before it was towed, including a large amount of cash in a plastic bag.

The ongoing investigation is being led by the Rexburg Police Department with assistance from the Kaua’i Police Department.

KPD confirmed that it is assisting, but as of early Tuesday morning it has not charged the couple with a crime.

‘KPD’s desire is to continue to assist the Rexburg Police in whatever way we can with their efforts to locate the missing children,’ said Kauai Police Chief Todd G. Raybuck in a press release.

‘It’s our sincere hope that the children have a safe return.’

Authorities began searching for the children in late November after performing a welfare check ordered by concerned relatives who said they hadn’t spoken to J.J., who is autistic, in months.

J.J.’s and Tylee’s grandparents, Kay and Larry Woodcock, began the investigation into the children’s disappearance when they requested that authorities perform a welfare check.

When officers first went to Lori’s home in Idaho on November 26, she told them that J.J. was visiting relatives in Arizona – which investigators say was a lie.

Officers returned the following day and found that Lori and Chad – who tied the knot early that month – had fled from the home.

Authorities say the couple have repeatedly lied about where J.J. and Tylee are and refused to cooperate with the investigation.

It has since emerged they had told people Tylee was dead and that Lori has no minor children.

Lori and Chad are considered persons of interest in the children’s disappearance after investigators said they believe the mother knows where her children are or what happened to them.

The couple issued a statement after they went on the run insisting that they’d done nothing wrong.

Police have said there is reason to believe the children are in danger.

The search for J.J. and Tylee uncovered a web of mysterious deaths surrounding Lori and Chad that has baffled investigators for weeks.

The first death is that of Lori’s estranged husband Charles Vallow, who was shot dead by her brother Alex Cox in Arizona on July 10.

Charles and Lori had gotten into an argument when the father came to pick up J.J. at the mother’s home in Chandler.

Lori’s brother intervened and fatally shot Charles.

Police initially determined that he acted in self defense – but the case was reopened amid the multi-state search for J.J. and Tylee, who had moved to Idaho, where Chad lived, with their mother in August.

The second mysterious death was Tammy Daybell – Chad’s previous wife – who was found dead at the couple’s home in Salem, Idaho, on October 19.

An obituary stated that Tammy passed away in her sleep and her cause of death was ruled as natural after Chad reportedly declined an autopsy.

Investigators reopened the case after learning that J.J. and Tylee were missing, as their mother had married Chad just two weeks after Tammy died. They believe the two cases could be linked.

Tammy’s body was exhumed on December 11 and the autopsy results have not yet been released.

On December 12, Lori’s brother, Alex Cox, was found dead in Gilbert, Arizona.

The 51-year-old’s death is now under investigation as police wait for an autopsy to determine the cause.

The string of mysterious deaths has left other relatives fearing for their lives as they suspect Lori and Chad’s alleged links to a doomsday cult may be responsible.

Family members have said that Lori turned into a ‘monster’ after she met Chad, the author of 25 books about the end of the world, and joined a cult called Preparing a People with him around 19 months ago.

Lori was married to Charles at the time that she allegedly joined the cult. The couple separated months later and Charles filed a petition for divorce and for custody of JJ in February 2019.

In court documents, Charles claimed that Lori – referred to as ‘mother’ – had recently become ‘infatuated, at times obsessive, about near death experiences and spiritual visions’.

‘Mother has told Father [Charles] that she is sealed [eternally married] to the ancient Book of Mormon prophet Moroni and that she has lived numerous lives on numerous planets prior to this current life,’ the documents state.

‘Mother also informed Father that she is a translated being who cannot taste death sent by God to lead the 144,000 into the Millennium.

‘Mother believes that she is receiving spiritual revelations and visions to help her gather and prepare those chosen to live in the New Jerusalem after the Great War as prophesied in the book of Revelations.’

Charles also claimed in the petition that Lori had threatened to kill him.

During a January 29 phone conversation, Lori allegedly told Charles that she was a ‘God assigned to carry out the work of the 144,000 at Christ’s second coming in July 2020 and that if Father [Charles] got in her way of her mission she would murder him’, the documents state.

Attorneys who represented Charles during the divorce proceedings recently revealed that their client had predicted either Lori or her brother Alex would kill him.

Speaking to FOX10 earlier this month, lawyer Steven Ellsworth claimed that Charles told him: ‘I’m afraid I’m gonna be killed, and I know who’s gonna do it.

‘I’m telling you, Steve, so that if something happens to me, I wanna make sure you let everyone know that something happens, I’m killed, that it’s my wife Lori and her brother, Alex Cox.’

Five months later, Charles’ prediction came true when Alex killed him.

THE PLAYERS: WHO’S WHO IN THE CASE OF THE MISSING IDAHO CHILDREN, TYLEE AND JJ

Other family members have expressed similar concerns for their safety.

Brandon Boudreaux, who was married to Lori’s niece, claims his wife tried to murder him in October after she joined the doomsday cult with her aunt.

On October 2, Brandon was shot at while driving home from the gym in Gilbert, Arizona. The bullet missed his head by mere inches as the shooter fled the scene, according to court documents obtained by The Arizona Republic.

An ongoing police investigation revealed that the shooter was driving a Jeep registered to Charles Vallow.

Brandon has now said he believes the children’s disappearance, the three deaths and his attempted murder are connected to a dangerous religious cult that Chad recruited Lori into.

‘I just don’t know how people can get so wrapped up that they can end up in this space where these people are. It’s just so radical, so different,’ Brandon told The Arizona Republic this week.

Brandon said his ex-wife, Melani Boudreaux, had begun spending time with her aunt’s cult, a radical offshoot of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Preparing for People, before she suddenly demanded a divorce over the summer.

‘I thought I had a happy marriage, so it was pretty overwhelming,’ Brandon said.

The parents to four young children were in the middle of divorce proceedings when someone tried to kill him in the October drive-by.
