Ilkay Gundogan says Man City are ‘built to handle pressure’ after Champions League win

Man City captain Ilkay Gundogan says his side is ‘built to handle pressure’ after their Champions League final victory secured a famous treble

Man City captain Ilkay Gundogan revealed how his team-mates had to cope with their Treble pressure as soon as he scored the winning goals in last weekend’s FA Cup Final.

The German midfielder, who might have played his last game for City last night, was his side’s match winner with two goals against Manchester United, at Wembley.

This time he got to lift an even bigger trophy and said: ‘We knew everyone was talking about the Treble, especially after the FA Cup. The pressure was there but this team is built to handle the pressure in best possible way.

‘It’s an unbelievable night. I am so happy. It is difficult to put everything into words, describe what happened and what we realised, but today we made history.

‘In the Champions League final it will always be difficult for both teams. We weren’t at our best in the first-half. We were hesitating. We had some good chances but knew we had to do better in the second, which we did.

‘It was probably a 50-50 game in which one goal made the difference. We are very fortunate it was for us.’
