Illinois Interstate closes and cash is sent flying

Five, tens and twenties, oh my! 

Drivers on Interstate-74 near Champaign, Ilinois, were shocked to find money littered across the highway in the aftermath of a car accident involving an illegal gambling machine. 

A black passenger car was speeding when it spun out of control, hitting both a guardrail and a Chevrolet Silverado with a flatbed trailer.

The money and cash vouchers inside the vehicle went flying across the highway as another car then fell into a ditch. 

Trooper Tracy Lillard shared with the Champaign News Gazette that the Ford SUV that fell into the right ditch and that the driver was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries.   

The driver of that vehicle was charged with driving while their license is revoked and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.

Lillard added that it took crews about an hour to clean up all the cash, which came out to several thousand dollars.  

According to the Champaign News Gazette, the driver of the car was charged with driving too fast for conditions. 

The identity of the driver has not been released and Lillard asserted that all three drivers in the accident were wearing their seat belts. 

Police have reportedly picked all of the money off of the road.
