I’m A Celeb 2021: Louise Minchin and Kadeena Cox face down snakes and cockroaches to bag 10 stars

Louise Minchin and Kadeena Cox managed to bag themselves a full 10 stars during Monday night’s trial, Critter-cal Cages.

The BBC Breakfast presenter, 53, and the Paralympian, 30, were forced to confront snakes and cockroaches.

The Trial called on one of the celebrities to lie in a cage, while the other had to retrieve keys from a cage containing snakes.

Each key unlocked a box filled with critters which had to be opened over the celebrity on the floor.

Some boxes contained stars to earn food for camp, while others contained only critters.

Kadeena opted to face down the snakes, leaving Louise to crawl inside the cage.

A nervous Louise said: ‘Good luck to everybody listening to me scream, but that’ll be fine.’

Kadeena admitted: ‘Lou, I love you but I’m going to chuck and run.’

As soon as the claxon rang, the gold medallist darted into a chamber where she untied keys while slithering snakes swept their way over a wall of shelves.

Kadeena proceeded to use her finding to open a small chest, which spurted a heap of creepy-crawlies into Louise’s casket – along with the highly-coveted star.

During the Trial, Kadeena joked: ‘Maybe you should close your mouth, it might help.’

Ant laughed: ‘Talking to me? Just a lot of people tell me that.’

The pair worked well together and won all 10 stars with only a minute left to spare.

Afterwards, a brave Kadeena said: ‘I tried to just go and find that athlete mode. I wasn’t even thinking about those snakes.’

Meanwhile, Sunday night saw Arlene Phillips become the first celebrity to be eliminated from camp.

The public vote meant that the choreographer, 78, was sent packing after 13 days in the camp, leaving her emotional campmates at Gwrych Castle behind.

When asked by Ant and Dec on her exit how she was feeling, Arlene, the oldest celebrity in the show’s history to take part, said: ‘Relieved, but emotional because of everything this has been.’

After explaining to the show’s long-running presenters that the venture was for her granddaughters, she added: ‘It brings out a lot of emotion and makes you think about your life.’

In answer to the classic question ‘who do you want to win’, the former Strictly Come Dancing judge named DJ Naughty Boy.

Eliminations usually begin after 10 days but the format has been altered following Richard Madeley’s abrupt departure.

The series was also temporarily taken off-air due to Storm Arwen, much to the dismay of viewers.
