I’m A Celeb bosses ‘install bulletproof intrusion detection cameras around camp’… after fan bypasses SIX security points to sneak on set

I’m A Celebrity bosses have reportedly installed bulletproof intrusion detection cameras around the set of this year’s series.

Producers are said to have splashed the cash on the high-tech 4ft units over fears YouTube pranksters, criminals or the general public could trespass.

The stringent security measures come after a mother claimed last week she bypassed security checkpoints to sneak into the Gwrych Castle in Wales.

The security system, named The Amardillo, is often used by police as it sounds when an intruder is detected and captures any attempted theft on video.

A source told The Sun: ‘The Amardillo is the leading piece of security kit available in the UK. It looks like something out of Doctor Who, but if you came face to face with it you’d c**p your pants.

‘It can emit a deafening alarm 16 times as loud as a car starting. It would cause anyone close to it some serious discomfort.

‘Its lights would startle even the most accomplished of criminals and its sensors won’t miss a thing, ITV bosses are confident that even just the presence of the Armadillo, let alone the other layers of security, should be enough to keep Ant and Dec and everyone else safe.’

MailOnline has contacted ITV for comment.

It comes after fan Emma Louise, 39, was collecting her caravan near Abergele’s Gwrych Castle with her partner Andrew, 36, when they decided to see if they could sneak onto the set.

The couple inadvertently managed to drive past the first security checkpoint without showing any ID or passes, she said, before finding themselves on the path towards the set of the ITV show.

The couple then drove through five more check points before reaching a dead-end and had a walk around the site on Sunday, she said.

The mum-of-two checked out the iconic kiosk – Ye Olde Shoppe – and saw the trucks full of costumes and kit, as well as two towers, and the front of the castle walkway.

Emma from Liverpool said: ‘We have a caravan in Wales and we were in the area and just wanted to see if we could take a peep. My boyfriend kept driving and we made it through the first security check no problem…

‘Then they started waving us through. We got past the sixth security check and there wasn’t anywhere really to go. My boyfriend said I would never have this chance again – to go and look round my favourite TV show – so we got out and looked around.

‘I’m just such a big fan of the show I couldn’t [believe] my luck. I didn’t get to go where the camp is but I was still inside the grounds of the castle!

‘If I saw Ant and Dec I think I would have had a heart attack. I don’t want anyone to lose their jobs over it. It was just a bit of fun and a bit of a dream for me!’

The show swapped the Australian jungle for the Welsh castle last year after the global pandemic prevented flights.

The line-up included Naughty Boy, Frankie Bridge, Richard Madeley and Snoochie Shy,
