Shaun Ryder received a telling off from his campmates during Tuesday’s instalment of I’m A Celeb South Africa after he kept them up with his loud snoring.
The Happy Mondays star, 60, then received a fright from fellow contestant and olympic athlete Fatima Whitbread, who had no choice but to give him a shake.
But as she did so she disturbed Shaun’s sleep, giving him a fright during their first night in camp.
She later said: ‘It sounded like someone who was drowning underwater’

Another said: ‘I could face any number of spiders, snakes and rats. But Shaun Ryder’s snoring? ABSOLUTELY NOT!’
Shaun was then left screaming in pain after he tried to get out of bed but heard a huge crack.
Shaun, who was already very displeased at the return of his old rival Gillian McKeith on Monday, also had a bad time of it in the show’s second episode.
As he tried to get out of bed, Shaun was suddenly left in intense pain after his replacement hip suddenly popped out .
He yelled: ‘My f***ing hip!’ while Princess Diana’s former butler Paul Burrell and cricket legend Phil Tufnell rushed to his assistance, exclaiming: ‘I heard that! Are you alright, boy?’
Luckily, Shaun quickly recovered to reassure his campmates, including a very shocked Carol Vorderman, that he was ok.
He managed to struggle to his feet, saying: ‘I’m alright, I’m alright, it went back.’
Phil later told The Telegraph: ‘I suddenly heard this almighty crack.
‘I mean it was sort of seismic. And then, for about a minute, he turned into Shakin’ Stevens.’
Shaun, who came runner-up in his original season, said: ‘I had been in there two nights, and boom, f****** hell, my hip had come out.
‘I pushed it back in myself. I didn’t want to see a doctor. Paul Burrell helped me out, he was a professional.’

On Monday’s episode Shaun seethed as Gillian McKeith made a surprise arrival into camp, after the pair were embroiled in furious rows on their first run in 2010.
The arrival of the TV personality in camp for the all-stars spin-off show did not go down well, with Shaun telling the other stars of their first run together: ‘I almost killed her!’
In the last few minutes of the first episode of this new series, Geordie duo Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly entered the camp to announce they had a surprise for the resident celebrities.
Television nutritionist Gillian, 63, was then seen emerging from a container after being brought in by several men carrying the box.
In a preview for Tuesday’s instalment, singer Shaun, who was known for his arguments with Gillian during his original run appeared to seethe as he recalled his time with her.
‘Gillian arrived in a box, she should have stayed in the box,’ he exclaimed.
The duo’s blazing rows in 2010 saw Shaun brand the Scot ‘f****** irritating’ before telling hosts Ant and Dec: ‘If Gillian was my wife, she would be in pieces in a plastic bag, deep in a hole in the back garden.’
Despite a possible shaky start with Shaun, Gillian insisted she was determined to stay strong during her time on the show, which was pre-recorded in South Africa’s Kruger National Park last year.
After famously fainting during a live trial on I’m A Celebrity 12 years ago, Gillian admitted she only accepted an offer to return because she wants to represent ‘all the scaredy cats in Britain’.
Bold words: ‘Gillian arrived in a box, she should have stayed in the box,’ Shaun said in a preview for Tuesday’s episode
Celebs: The All Stars season will see Shaun Ryder, Helen Flanagan, Phil Tufnell, Jordan Banjo, Carol Vorderman, Paul Burrell, Amir Khan, Janice Dickinson and Fatima Whitbread return
Before setting foot in the camp, Gillian revealed she was ‘absolutely terrified and petrified’ of making a second appearance on the series that saw her voted for eight consecutive trials
However, Gillian stressed her fainting episode was not made up so she could get out of doing another tough Bushtucker Trial back in 2010.
The last series of the original format saw former England footballer Jill Scott become queen of the jungle.
I’m A Celebrity… South Africa continues tonight at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
