I’m A Celebrity 2022: ‘Naughty Matt Hancock!’ Former Health Secretary faces the wrath of his disgruntled campmates as he BURNS their limited supply of rice

Matt Hancock landed himself in some hot water with his I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! campmates during Monday evening’s episode as he burnt their limited supply of rice.

The former Health Secretary, 44, was put in charge of watching the dish as it cooked for dinner, but was left red-faced as Scarlette Douglas lifted the lid to see the rice ‘completely burnt’.

And the rest of his hungry campmates weren’t impressed either, as Sue Cleaver said: ‘Naughty Matt Hancock’, while fans took to social media to compare the MP to a university student.

Matt has been put on camp cooking duty this week, and was watching over the rice and beans for his campmates during the episode.

But it appears the MP had got distracted on duty, as Scarlette asked if he had checked the rice, before lifting the lid and saying: ‘Totally burnt’.

‘I thought you were keeping an eye on that, no worries,’ jibed the former A Place In The Sun presenter.

The show sees the stars fight to complete challenges in return for food, with it notoriously difficult to get used to the minimal food.

So it’s no surprise that his fellow campmates weren’t best pleased with the loss of food, as Seann Walsh took to the Bush Telegraph to say: ‘Matt did a bit of an oopsie with the cooking and forgot that the rice was being cooked.’

‘I don’t remember there being so many problems with the cooking when Charlene was here. I think this restaurant’s gone downhill. Sorry Matt,’ continued the comedian.

While Sue simply said: ‘Naughty Matt Hancock!’

‘We rescued the situation, we got half a pan of rice. Basically we lost one packet of rice. All is well,’ explained Matt afterwards.

But all was not lost, as a hungry Owen Warner was given the burnt scraps of the rice to happily chow down before taking on his trial.

Following the rice ordeal, many fans took to Twitter to joke that Matt was similar to a first year university student, who have a reputation for poor cooking skills.

‘You guys think Matt Hancock has ever cooked a bowl of rice before. It’s giving freshers,’ wrote one.
