I’m A Celebrity: ‘Overwhelmed’ Ian Wright is booted from the jungle, downs a glass of champagne, demands to see his wife and admits he needs to work on his ‘anger issues’

Ian Wright has been evicted from the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! jungle – just 24 hours after his close friend James Haskell was booted out.

Ian admitted he felt ‘overwhelmed’ as he joined Ant & Dec for the eviction interview before downing a glass of champagne and demanding ‘where’s my missus?’

When asked about leaving, he said: ‘I feel it’s got to the time [to go], you need to be positive around people, I wasn’t positive enough for the young people. My time has come, it’s been unbelievable.’

He explained why he went on the show, saying: ‘I was looking for a new challenge. The challenge wasn’t what I was expecting. I found the mental side – I’ve got a lot to work on.’

He also celebrated the fact that he ‘didn’t get buried’ in any tasks.

About his mood swings, he said: ‘I couldn’t suppress my feelings otherwise I would have been worse than I was in there.

‘I’ve learned that I’ve got to be a little bit calmer. I feel I lose it too quickly. I have to try and stay in control. I need to watch it back and learn from mistakes. I’ve got to be myself but I have also got to rein it in a bit too.’

The fourth campmate to be eliminated, James struggled to hold back tears as he bid farewell to the other celebrities.

He told Ant & Dec in his eviction chat: ‘You know what, I got quite emotional. Jacqueline started crying, Ian had tears in his eyes, and I thought “there’s no way I’m going to well up here”, and I did. I discovered a deep dark set of emotions.’

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! continues on Thursday night at 9PM on ITV. The final airs on Sunday.
