Legendary actor Denzel Washington surprised Deion Sanders’ Colorado football team during a meeting, talking to the Buffaloes via Zoom and offering the impressionable men life advice.

The two-time Oscar winner has an unmistakable voice in pop culture and Sanders was clearly in awe of the opportunity afforded to his players by having Washington take time out of his busy schedule to chat.

Washington opined about several things before relating them all back to the players’ studies, and of course, football.

‘When you pray for rain, you got to deal with the mud too,’ Washington started. ‘But eventually, good things grow out of that mud. Boy, fame ain’t all it’s made up to be – power and privilege and fame and wealth. Hopefully you’ll see but it’s not all it’s made up to be.’

‘So, yeah, you can pray that it rains on you, but you got to deal with the mud. You’d be looking up and look down and realize you’re seven feet deep in mud. It’s thick. People don’t like it. People don’t like seeing you do well. We are in the world, but don’t be of it.’

‘Don’t rely on it for your happiness. Rely on the Almighty. Do not rely on this world for your happiness, because it’ll tell you Tuesday that they love you, and Wednesday that they hate you. Probably said that about your team. It’s not consistent.’

Before Washington’s closing remarks, Sanders said he nearly drove off the road when the ‘Training Day’ actor FaceTime’d him earlier that day.

The Colorado head coach also said he loved him and promised he would come up to New York to see him, presumably for Washington’s starring role in ‘Othello’ on Broadway, opposite Jake Gyllenhaal.

‘Hey, remember this fellas. Today is an opportunity to be the best you, that you can be,’ Washington added. ‘Whatever comes your way, whatever obstacles come your way, what an opportunity to overcome them and do better.’

‘C students, what an opportunity you have to be a B student. A students, what an opportunity you have to help that C student. Help each other, protect each other. That’s why they call it the team. You’re a unit.’

‘Now, I’m not a prophet, but I’mma say this now, if y’all don’t send me a ticket to the national championship when you get there, then don’t ever go to none of my movies ever again. I don’t want to know you, because I know you gon’ to be there. Now you remember that Denzel Washington said it.’

‘You are going into the national championship. Now, some of you may not go with this team, but you’re going to the national championship in life anyway. God bless you, I love you. Good luck to you.’
