A father decapitated his eight-year-old daughter with an axe after a sorcerer told him it would save his troubled marriage.
Police arrested father-of-four Ramacharan Paharia after they found his daughter Jamuna’s headless body in Odisha, India.
Officers claim he consulted a sorcerer who suggested he sacrifice his daughter from his first marriage to stop his second wife from abandoning him.

Paharia took his daughter to a nearby crop field and hacked her head off, police say.
The incident allegedly happened on October 26 but police were only informed on Thursday and went to Nuapada district of Odisha where they arrested him.
Tapan Kumar Mahanand, investigating officer in the case, said: ‘Ramcharan was a firm believer in black magic and sorcery.’
‘There was an ongoing dispute in the family. It is believed Paharia consulted a sorcerer and sought his help to restore peace in the family.’
The father in his 40s also has a daughter and two sons from his second wife.
The police are investigating and are trying to track down the sorcerer.
