Ines Basic left with ‘chronic anxiety and PTSD’ after MAFS

The brutal aftermath of MAFS: Ines Basic weighed just 41kg while filming the show’s reunion… and turned to therapy and Valium to treat her ‘chronic anxiety and PTSD’

Ines Basic is arguably the most controversial participant in Married At First Sight history.

And it looks like the stress of the social experiment combined with her troubled childhood took a toll on the star, with her weight plummeting to 41kg when she filmed the show’s reunion in January.

According to News.com.au, the 29-year-old was also in therapy and taking Valium to treat her ‘chronic anxiety and PTSD’.

Photos taken from outside the reunion see the brunette looking gaunt and frail, with a noticeable drop in her weight compared to when she first joined the show in September.

Ines has been open about her tumultuous upbringing, with the reality star fleeing war-torn Bosnia with her family when she was just a child.

After her sister was born in an Austrian refugee camp, a four-year-old Ines and her family were granted refugee status to live in Australia.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph in February, the Bosnian bride said that her family couldn’t speak English when they arrived Down Under and had just $7 to their name.

‘The hardship I have endured, a lot of it has been painful and traumatic,’ she said. ‘I have seen a lot and been through a lot.’

She added: ‘Growing up with parents who were suffering from PTSD, we as children had to look after ourselves.’

Ines was inundated with hate from MAFS viewers ever since ‘cheating’ on her on-screen husband Bronson Norrish with tattooed tradie Sam Ball on the show.

Meanwhile it was recently revealed that the legal assistant will ‘go into hiding’ in the Australian outback after the season finale airs on Sunday and Monday.

Ines, Jessika Power, Daniel Webb, Martha Kalifatidis and others have been booked into rural rentals in Queensland for four days to ensure their physical safety.

Channel Nine and producers Endemol Shine Australia are hoping this move will protect them from the public backlash they will undoubtedly face.

A production source told Daily Mail Australia on Thursday: ‘This year the level of threats and hate has been unprecedented.’

‘Although most of [the violent threats] have no credible basis and are just trolls on social media, producers are really worried the reunion may push some viewers over the edge.

‘They are prepared right now for an intense public backlash against some of the participants.’

On Saturday, Ines told Daily Mail Australia that she was ‘moving on’ from the series.

‘It was filmed so long ago,’ she said. ‘I’ve moved on.’

Ines also confirmed she had deleted all evidence of her time on the reality show from her Instagram feed and was instead ‘looking forward to what’s next’ in her life.

‘It’s really weird to try get yourself back to a place that feels like it happened so long ago,’ she said.
