Video surveillance from the Montgomery County Jail in Ohio shows the shocking moment a female inmate plunged through the roof as she attempted to escape from the jail waiting area.
Jessica Boomershine, 42, was awaiting a court appearance on January 21 charged with breaking into the house of an 85-year-old man in Miamisburg and assaulting him.
The surveillance footage shows her attempt to flee as she climbs onto a chair and pulls herself into the waiting room’s roof. It collapses beneath her and she instantly plummets back toward the ground.
Boomershine emerged from the botched escape attempt uninjured but is now facing further charges for escape and destruction of property.

Boomershine was arrested on January 16 charged with breaking into the home of an 85-year-old man who gave her money when she told him she was homeless but wouldn’t give her more
In the video, Boomershine is seen reaching toward the ceiling as fellow inmates look on and a woman in a separate cell in the background cheers her on.
There is a 30-second pause in which it is presumed she was moving a ceiling tile before she begins to drag herself up.
As she succeeds in pulling herself into the roof, corrections officers begin to enter to room but she crashes through after seconds, bringing part of the ceiling with her.
The officers rush to grab her legs and hold her as she loses her grip on the ceiling, hitting a trash can before she falls to the ground and is detained once more.

Boomershine was first arrested with her boyfriend Billy Joe Farra, 35, last month after allegedly breaking into an elderly man’s home on January 15, taking his gun and assaulting him.
They kidnapped him and took the man’s car, forcing him at gunpoint to take out money from an ATM before abandoning him in the trunk of his car at a Rumpke recycling facility on East Monument Avenue in Dayton.
The man escaped after finding the emergency release in the trunk and made his way into the Rumpke facility, where he was later found bleeding heavily in the break room by employees.
He had suffered serious head and neck injuries.
‘Thankfully, the victim had the wherewithal after this ordeal to be able to escape from the trunk of his car,’ said Montgomery County Prosecutor Mat Heck Jr.
‘These defendants pistolwhipped the victim and left him for dead. The actions of these defendants, abusing and robbing a compliant 85-year-old man, is outrageous and disturbing. They both deserve to serve a significant time in prison.’

The victim identified Boomershine as someone he had recently met at the Hollywood Games Racino.
‘She reported herself to be homeless and didn’t have any money so he felt sorry for her,’ Miamisburg Police Sergeant, Jeff Muncy told Dayton 24/7.
‘He brought her home and gave her some food and what not and that’s how they know each other.’
Boomershine kept returning to the victim’s home looking for more money but he refused and so the couple decided to force his hand.
