Inside Nadia Bartel’s break-up holiday: How the WAG fled to LA as her marriage ended

Nadia Bartel and her AFL star husband Jimmy have split after five years of marriage. 

And while details surrounding the break-up have not yet been made public, there were already signs of trouble in paradise months ago.

In April, as her relationship fell apart, Nadia distracted herself from the heartbreak by heading for a girls’ weekend at the Coachella music festival. 

Nadia joined her fellow WAGs, including Jessie Murphy, Kylie Brown and Rebecca Judd, and jetted off to Palm Springs, California. 

Coachella would have provided the perfect distraction, with the girls enjoying cocktails in the sunshine, pool parties and musical performances. 

The trip may have been booked 10 months in advance, but it nonetheless came at a good time for Nadia as she struggled to come to terms with the end of her marriage.

Surrounded by her friends, Nadia attended fashion events before partying at the festival and even paying a visit to one of America’s famous In-N-Out Burger joints. 

Ahead of her trip, Nadia had said she would find it ‘difficult’ being away from home and leaving behind her two children, whom she shares with Jimmy. 

The Bartels have two sons: three-year-old Aston and nine-month-old Henley.

A day before jetting off to Los Angeles, Nadia told her Instagram followers: ‘Tomorrow I leave my babies for a week – so nervous and anxious.’

‘It’s so hard,’ she added. ‘I’m going to miss them so much.’

Tellingly, she made only a passing reference to her ‘hubby’. 

Nadia’s trip to Coachella came just four months before news of her split from Jimmy surfaced, with a source telling the Herald Sun this week the couple had parted ways.

The Bartels are yet to publicly address their split, but Nadia hasn’t worn her wedding ring for week and the pair have unfollowed each other on Instagram. 

They were last pictured together on social media back in June, while attending a friend’s wedding in Melbourne. 

Nadia and Jimmy first met in 2008 while attending the Melbourne F1 Grand Prix. The former Geelong Cats player proposed four years later in Mexico.

The couple then married in an elaborate wedding on the Bellarine Peninsula in 2014.
