Skin brushing promotes lymphatic drainage, sweeps toxins out of the body and helps exfoliate pore-blocking dry skin.

Advocates of skin brushing claim that doing so for just five minutes a day can shift cellulite and help regain and retain a youthful glow.

Celebrities such as Elizabeth Hurley and Elle Macpherson dry brush their skin to help detox, and keep their circulation moving and thighs dimple-free.

Speaking to FEMAIL earlier this year, Pia also revealed why she washes her hair just once every four days and swears by salt water spray – either natural or from a bottle – for an effortlessly tousled look.

‘Whether it’s hair or skincare, I’m all about keeping things natural and simple,’ she said at the time.

‘I do a double shampoo cleanse, followed by a small amount of conditioner. If my hair is really dried out, I’ll do a homemade hair mask on a Sunday night.’

This might include ingredients you can find in the house, such as eggs and banana, which she mixes into a concoction and applies to her locks.

‘I use as many natural products on my skin and face as possible,’ Pia explained, adding that she always applies moisturiser and sunscreen before her makeup.
