The court heard Fazlilar shot Mr Donovan in the thigh after wrongly concluding he was a police informant, The Daily Telegraph reported.

Eerie images of the hotel room where Mr Donovan was killed show a pill on the carpet and a do not disturb sign lying on the floor.

His group booked the Fraser Suites room for the following night, but did not check in until 6am on Saturday morning.

By that time the DJ, who was visiting Sydney from the Central Coast, was partying with Fazlilar and Love Machine co-owner Elias Dimarelis and his girlfriend Rebel King.

Demarelis, who witnessed Fazlilar fire a bullet into the back of Mr Donovan’s left thigh, later told his business partner he left two seconds after the shooting.

‘Huss shot Donovan … they were partying for the last two days … and went crazy and shot him in the leg,’ Dimarelis said.

‘He might be dead, he might have bled out,’ Dimarelis claimed he said next.

Dimarelis told the court Fazlilar saw what he believed was the police Crime Stoppers number on Mr Donovan’s phone and confronted him before opening fire.

The court heard Mr Donovan screamed ‘You shot me!’ shortly before he died.

The body then went undiscovered for another 38 hours as cleaners who opened the door three times thought a person was sleeping inside.

Dimarelis called Triple-Zero on the Monday after the shooting, the court heard, after his girlfriend had earlier called the hotel requesting a late check-out.

Fazlilar is due to face a sentencing hearing on September 14.
