Russian President Vladimir Putin created a secretive 'tsar's village' of properties for his daughters and ex-wife in a plush Moscow district, according to a report. An investigation by independent Russian outlet Proekt claimed that Putin used secret offshore companies to buy land and lavish properties for his daughters. The disclosures were purportedly based on emails between Putin's youngest daughter, Katerina Tikhonova and her ex-husband Kirill Shamalov, who is the son of a friend of Putin. The four mansions and Putin's residence, the Novo-Ogarevo estate, are situated along the Rublevka highway, a wealthy neighborhood where a number of oligarchs, government officials, celebrities and tycoons reside.

Two houses to the east of Novo-Ogarevo were allegedly bought in 2006 by Cypriot business Ermira. Officially, the company is owned by a Russian lawyer, but sources told Proyekt that in reality it belonged to Putin. The property in the Usovo-Plyus settlement, worth an estimated 350 million roubles ($3.7 million), was for the use of Maria Vorontsova (pictured), 38, Putin's elder daughter, following her marriage to a Dutch businessman, Proyekt said.

Tikhonova (pictured) allegedly had access to a a spa, a library and an 'acrobatics room', as she has formerly competed in acrobatic dancing competitions. The communication between Tikhonova and Shamalov saw them converse over refurbishments worth an estimated $9 million, including a $120,000 bar with a marble surround and a $72,000 gold-plated chandelier.

It has also been claimed that Putin himself is living with his mistress Alina Kabaeva (pictured right), 40, a former Olympic gymnast, and their young family. The Kremlin have not commented on the Proekt investigation that surfaced in June 2023. The investigation itself suggests that while Tikhonova and Shamalov were wed before a priest in a church ceremony, they did not have a registered civil marriage so that there would be no trace of property being linked to Putin's daughter. Others with close ties to Putin are also allegedly making use of several other palaces across Russia, as the country's leader continues to fear for his own personal safety amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict. The home linked to Putin's first wife Lyudmila Shkrebneva, and her new spouse, was transferred to them by Shamalov following his split with Tikhonova.

However, it is not clear that his rumored love child Luiza Rozova - born to his earlier mistress Svetlana Krivonogikh - has a mansion in the so-called 'Tsar Village.' Ms Rozova has disappeared since the war with Ukraine broke out in early 2022. The revelations of his lavish properties come as Putin is reportedly preparing to seek six more years in the Kremlin in a bid to extend his already 23-year-long reign as either President or Prime Minister of Russia. An election is due next year - and Putin would be 77 if he completed another full term as Russia's president. A Putin campaign announcement may be made early amid suspicions that Wagner mercenary army boss Yevgeny Prigozhin, 62, has strong political ambitions and will seek to run. Putin has been Russia's president since 1999, except for a four-year stint as prime minister from 2008-2012. Pictured: Putin and his then-wife Lyudmila.
