Instagram model reveals why she was offended by middle-aged author’s threesome question

An Instagram model has revealed why she was so offended when a middle-aged author asked if she would ever consider a threesome.

Ellie-Jean Coffey – a Sydney-based model and surfer best known for her provocative social media posts –  announced last week that she was single after her 18-month relationship abruptly ended.

The 24-year-old was then left ‘disgusted’ when she was asked by author Derek Rielly, who is in his 50s, whether she would consider embarking on a ‘swinging throuple’ relationship.

The blonde has now taken to social media to address the reason behind her outrage.

‘I seriously just think that what sucks about ”coming out” as bisexual is that people do automatically assume you have massive orgies and sleep with couples,’ Ms Coffey posted on Instagram.

She said the idea that all bisexual people enjoyed threesomes was a ‘stereotype’.

‘There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that… and look yes even if that is the case for me I do think a bit of respect goes a long way,’ she continued.

‘Would appreciate it if everyone just realised I am still quite young and most of you are fantastic about it but for other bisexual girls the need to instantly sexualise them is not cool.

‘It’s a big deal to come out and for the first question to be something like ”oh you f*** other couples” is a little insensitive, something along the lines of ”hey we support you and appreciate who you are” is the kind of response that is so needed.’

The controversy was sparked when Rielly, who is best known for writing a biography of former Prime Minister Bob Hawke, penned an article on his surf website BeachGrit about Ms Coffey’s recent break-up.

'I seriously just think that what sucks about ''coming out'' as bi-sexual is that people do automatically assume you have massive orgies and sleep with couples,' Ms Coffey posted on Instagram

Rielly began by asking how she felt about the break-up, before questioning whether it was a chance for her ‘to exercise her adventurous side’.

He then went on to ask if Ms Coffey would be open to a ‘swinging throuple’ relationship.

Ms Coffey responded to almost all of his questions with blunt, one-word answers, and firmly told him she would never embark on a three-way relationship.

She later told Confidential she felt ambushed by Rielly.

‘I think it’s entirely disgusting, it’s an outrage, this is not acceptable behaviour,’ she said.

‘I was getting on a bus, I had a really busy day, the bus was crowded and I got ambushed with a phone call and boom.

Ms Coffey admitted her social media content could be considered eyebrow raising to some, but said she didn’t believe anyone had a right to make her feel uncomfortable.

‘To be honest I am putting out what I’m putting out and anyone can say what they want to say … it shouldn’t give people permission to write what they write.’

The model is one of the Coffey sisters who have been nicknamed the ‘Kardashians of Australian surfing’, and it’s easy to see why.

The four Coffey sisters – Ruby-Lee, Bonnie-Lou, Ellie-Jean, 24, and Holly-Daze, 21 – are rising stars in professional surfing in addition to being ‘Instagram famous’.

Ellie-Jean told the Herald Sun that the family understands why the comparison between the two families is made.

‘We obviously can see why we’re compared because of the whole family unit,’ she told the publication.

She added that the surfing siblings are, ‘obviously we’re talented’ but unlike the reality show staples, ‘not fabulously wealthy.’

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia recently, the siblings hit back at critics who say they shouldn’t share so many bikini-clad photos online.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Holly-Daze said that their behaviour is nothing out of the ordinary for Australian women who enjoy the beach lifestyle.

‘We don’t really care what your opinion is, we just do it, and we’re okay with it,’ Holly-Daze said. ‘If you don’t like it, don’t look at it. So many girls are doing it – and guys.’
