This is the moment a brazen cyclist runs a red light in front of a police officer who nabs the rider just seconds later.

Dashcam footage posted to Facebook on Sunday shows a car pulling up to the intersection of Tamaki Drive and Solent Street in Auckland on the North Island of New Zealand.

The vehicle slows for the lights, before preparing to turn the bend as it turns to green.

As the semi-trailer at the front of the queue moves forward, a cyclist is seen riding directly across the turning lanes.

An officer in a patrol vehicle heading the opposite direction witnesses the illegal move and promptly u-turns to chase him.

The penalty for running a red light in New Zealand is $150

Truck driver Roy van Geffen shared the video on his Facebook, stating: ‘Instant Karma for this idiot cyclist.’

The video has been viewed more than 6,000 times since it was posted two days ago.
