International Women’s Day celebration! Kim Kardashian, Kate Hudson share notes

International Women’s Day fell on Monday. The annual day highlights the movement for women’s rights; it began in New York City in 1909 by the socialist party.

Several celebrities such as Kim Kardashian and Kate Hudson took to Instagram to mark the day.

‘Today we celebrate each other, you women inspire me so much and I don’t know what I would do without each and every one of you,’ the 40-year-old Kim, who is in the process of divorcing Kanye West, said on her Instagram Stories.

Marked annually, International Women’s Day is held to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, while raising awareness regarding gender equality and parity across the globe.

This year’s theme ‘Choose to Challenge’ has racked up thousands of posts across social media, with many posting selfies on Instagram with one hand in the air alongside a detailed caption.

On Twitter, the hashtag has become a way of spreading awareness of protests taking place in over 40 countries including China, Russia, Israel and the United Kingdom.
