Twitter exploded with hilarious memes after Theresa May won a House of Commons confidence vote by 325 votes to 306. 

Some users were disappointed at the result, with one comparing Britain to the Titanic with a picture from the 1997 film. 

Jeremy Corbyn was also the target of mockery, as one tweet likened him to former Newcastle manager Kevin Keegan as he watched the Premier League title slip away in 1996. 

Others lamented the general turmoil in Westminster, with one invoking The Sound of Music to say: ‘I have confidence in confidence alone’. 

The vote means Theresa May stays in power but she is no closer to winning Parliament’s support for a Brexit deal.
