Inventors design creepy-looking drone with HANDS they say will be able to carry your shopping or pick up your keys when you have left them behind

  • Youbionic says drone could perform tasks deemed too dangerous for humans
  • Inventors want to ‘create a new world’ and propel us into the ‘post-human age’
  • Drone can perform routine tasks such as shopping to carrying crucial medicines

A team of inventors has developed a cutting-edge drone equipped with bionic hands which they claim will make everyday human tasks such a shopping a thing of the past.

The hands, suspended from the rotor-bladed piece of kit, will also be able to execute potentially perilous tasks without risking lives, according to Youbionic – the company behind the drones.

In a somewhat eerie mission statement, the inventors say they want to ‘create a new world’ and propel the planet into the ‘post-human age’.

They believe this radical overhaul will be made possible by their creepy-looking drone which will be able to perform a variety of tasks, from simply picking up keys to carrying crucial medical supplies.

On its website, Youbionic’s founder Federico Ciccarese says: ‘Today I show you a device that will soon fly over our heads.

‘The big technology companies will use these devices to transport consumer goods, generic medicines, food, etc.

‘They will be used to deal with dangerous missions in areas exposed to excessive risks for humans, they will deal with carrying out operations in areas that are difficult to access.’

Youbionic boast that the hand ‘will be able to perform movements you’ve never seen in any other robot’ and can be controlled remotely, but it is not entirely clear how the drone responds to human commands.

Mr Ciccarese also claims his invention is the first drone in the world to be equipped with hands.

The hand-fitted drone is not yet available from the company’s store, however the 3D printing files for just the hands retail at $169.
