Investigation finds staggering number of New South Wales prison guards falling into inmates’ arms

REVEALED: The staggering number of prison guards having sex with prisoners behind bars – after part-time bikini model was sacked for her ‘inappropriate relationship’ with an inmate

  • More than 300 cases reported in past decade in NSW alleging improper conduct
  • Task Force Themis found 14 of those cases had involved a sexual relationship
  • The task force found middle-aged guards in 40s and 50s were most susceptible
  • A source revealed inmates were exploiting female guards bullied by colleagues
  • More than 300 reports have been made in the past decade alleging inappropriate relationships between prison guards and prisoners, a new task force has found.

The investigation into New South Wales jails found women were being lured into the arms of inmates who ‘exploited’ how badly male guards treated their female colleagues.

The findings come after ex-bikini model turned prison guard Tara Brooks, 33, was dismissed earlier this year after engaging in a sexual relationship with a prisoner.

Taskforce Themis found middle-aged guards in their 40s and 50s were most susceptible to maintaining improper relationships, The Daily Telegraph reported.

More than 320 cases were sent to the task force – from which 14 were found to have involved a sexual relationship.

That finding went against popular perception it was younger, more vulnerable guards who could fall into the arms of prisoners.

A source told the investigation prisoners took advantage of bullied female staff members.

‘The prisoners see how badly the women guards are treated and exploit it,’ the source revealed.

New laws were introduced last November to criminalise guard-prisoner relationships following a spate of sex offences between staff and inmates.

She was given a two-year behaviour bond, but on appeal her sentence was amended to the same correctional order with her conviction was struck from the record.

In April, a male prison guard was caught giving a female inmate oral sex in her cell in a Kempsey jail on the New South Wales mid-coast.

Then in August, married prison guard Amy Connors admitted to having a secret affair with cop-killer Sione Penisini.

She is due to be sentenced on December 2.
